Tam, I believe that Blue Garland china was once available at various grocery stores. The dresser things with hole in the center is called a hair “receiver”. Women also collected their hair to put inside their buns to make hair appear thicker. Very nice haul. Enjoyed it!

The two dresser containers with holes are for “collecting hair” from brushes and combs!! In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s people made jewelry with their hair woven in to it for “whatever” reason!! 😁

I had seen rings with braided hair in an antique store when I worked for the Circuit Civil Division of the Orlando, FL. I enjoyed wandering through the downtown area and talking to the antique dealers. I found a broach, pin in 14k gold that was engraved with my initials, D. R. (first and maiden name, last). That was in 1974ish. The pin cost $40.00 and I put it on layaway and paid on it until I paid it off!! The owner was so sweet and put it in a beautiful box and a store-branded bag and I’ve wore it often until I married in 1980 and my married name changed to an E!! I do enjoy writing elaborate memories and hope you don’t mind!🥰 (Pieces of history, no matter how trivial should be shared. And memories are JUST THAT! Personal pieces of history. 💖🎉)

i love that you have the blue garland china...my mother-in-law spent almost a year collecting a service for 12 (including all the serving pieces and that fabulous tea set) as a gift for our first married christmas in 1975...they were a grocery store "promotion with purchase"--who knew they'd be so collectible? we love them and have used them every year for thanksgiving and easter...what a great estate haul! you have great taste and i always look forward to your videos :)...thank you for sharing and make it a great weekend!!

Hello again, the dresser set item with the hole in the top is a hair receiver, after brushing their hair, women would remove the hair from the brush and save it to add fullness to their hairdos. I think the hook items are to button shoes.

Hi Tam, the vanity sets are made of celluloid, don't put them near a flame or direct heat a fire will be the result. The container in ? is a hair receiver, they would put the loose hair from the brush in it, no reason for the stopper to screw in. The hook item is for doing up buttons on shoes, I'm sure it helped with lacing them at a later date. Tfs ❤

@@TamsPlace Aww thank's, we just all have our loves and niches. I feel dumb as a tack most days as I'm getting older. Where are my darn glasses, as they sit on my head 😂😂😂. You share with us and I learn from you, I want to share back when I can. I think I just got lucky with this haul. 😊

I have 2 sets of that Haviland China. Mom’s is the blue you have and mine is pink. They were premiums @ IGA in the 70’s. You could purchase 1 new piece a week or get most pieces for .49cents with a $20. Grocery purchase. Some of the pieces were more like the casserole dish and serving bowl.
