Character Study | Dean Winchester

I've always walked around with this idea to do a character study of Dean. And today I decided to just make it! When I think of Dean and what made him into the person he his today I think about Sam, John and Mary. Sure hell happened, and the mark and lots of other stuff. But I think his family has had the most impact on his life. His parents' deaths just did something to him. And his anger about the deal his mom made just eats him up. And the love he has for Sammy is so big. I had to put this into a video. These people are what made him who he is today.

I felt so sorry for Dean, he never had a childhood. He had a terrible burden put of him by his father, a mother who wasn't around and tried to protect Sam. He stayed in crap when he was young to protect Sam. The brotherly bond is awesome, and although they've both been through so muchl, Dean had the worst of it for the longest. Sheesh, the years he spent in hell and what was done to him there, it's amazing that the character has such a passion to save others. Supernatural is an awesome series. We need the laughs, otherwise it would be heartbreaking through and through. It's a well balanced series.

Dean has always and will always be a character i love very much. From the first season, i resonated with him so much. He’s such an amazing, beautiful, painfully real character. the show ended over a year ago- but spn will never end. The winchesters will never end.

And it's crazy to think that they probably wouldn't have met Cas, Lucifer probably wouldn't have been released from the cage, Jack wouldn't exist, yet anyway. Everything after season 2 would be completely different, except Crowley becoming the king of hell I guess.

Honestly I Lowkey hate Mary, like she left her sons in an abusive setting and that wasn't all her fault, but when she got a second chance, she left them again and honestly Lowkey glad she's in a different dimension (spoilers) like holy hell shes a terrible mother

I also don't really like Mary now that she's back. The image we always got of her was that she was this sweet mom who took care of her boys. But now that she's back that image is completely ruined.

Ik this is late but... i feel like everyone disregarded Marys feelings in the matter. She just came back after being dead for 33 years. Her husband is dead. Her sons arent little kids anymore. She needed time to adjust. It was probably a lot harder for Mary to adjust to being.. alive again, than it would have been for sam and dean to cope with her being around.

I personally never saw it like that To me Mary's return is kind of a "don't meet your heros" situation. Dean, who had been 4 years old when she died, idolized her. All small children do, because it's essential for their survival I imagine. He did have this image of this person who always took care of him, sang him songs, loved him. And this is what he was clinging to his entire life. And then Mary came back; the real Mary. A person (altough fictional to us) who had flaws and personal problems. As a person grwos up they ideally learn to view their parents as real, failuable human beings. Dean never did that though. He never had the chance to. So when Mary was dropped on him 30 something years later, that image of the perfect mom began to break down. Fyi, this is just me trying to make sense of the mess that is season 12

I know I missed characters, but I just wanted to focus on his family. Because a lot has happened to Dean, but everything he is is basically because of his family. That's where it all started. So I just wanted to show that. But I do know a lot of other character contributed to who he is today, just not as much as his family.
