Thank you for this pod cast. I went to the battle field yesterday. The Filson Club also has a piece of wood that estill died on. It’s been a fun but heartbreaking journey learning my ancestors life and times.

How are you doing sir thank you for your wonderful cultural documentary channel. Iam Arabic lady subscriber to several British and American KZbin channels. We are as foreigners subscribers as overseas students want to increase our cultural level improve our English language as well . I gathered main points about topic you mentioned briefly here it’s battle of little mountain, also known as estill defeats, was fought on March 22 1782 near mount sterling in what is now Montgomery county Kentucky. One bloodiest engagement of Kentucky frontier , battle has long been subject of controversy resulting from actions of one of captain James Estill. Officers , William Miller, who ordered retreat that left rest of Estill command to be overwhelmed by attacking Wyandots . Iam so sorry to be little long but reading and writing both are great ways to improve our English as none native speakers. Wishing for your channel more success and progress. Happy mother day to you we celebrated mother day last March in Arabic countries as well as England. It’s different date around world you in USA and Canada on May we on March. Best wishes for you your family friends.

In Madison County KY there was a court case Crews Vs. Crews where to prove witnesses were in the area at a certain time, they were asked to recount their stories about Estill's Defeat. Makes interesting reading. The case itself concerned competing claims of heirs of David Milton Crews 1740-1821 and his son Elijah Crews. They were early settlers and at some point around 1782 father and son swapped lands. Apparently one tract was more valuable. The case is also notable as one of the attorney's was Henry Clay. I am a genealogist related to the Crews family and also the Carson family (of Kit Carson)which is why I was interested.

I find this information very interesting! I see that Joseph Proctor is mentioned which he is one of my ancestors.. the information i have just off the top of my head right now told the story of five proctor brothers and their father. Nicholas Proctor Sr. Sons Joseph, Littlepage, Nicholas, Ruben and Benjamin.. It was said that Nicholas Sr. Married Captain Estills widow.. I decend from Benjamin. He later moved to Missouri. There is a monument there it Ky. That has the names of everyone that was at ft. Estill. I also have a land grant photo of whom i believe is Nicholas Proctor Sr. In VA. I cant recall the year though..it can be confusing bec the name Nicholas was used on down the line to even my brother.. So i have to really watch the dates.. Etc. I work on my family history for 16 years and i have alot of documentation but i know it can be harder the further back i go as records may not exist. Regardless im glad i found your video and it gives me more insight on what happened.
