I fear that I have damaged my bowel through menopause induced chronic inflammation. I had undiagnosed bad IBS in peri, I didn't realise I was in peri or that the IBS was related. Oestrogen stopped it. Then I started bleeding so my Dr and me reduced the oestrogen when it happened again, and I got down to 25mcg. I was "ok" for a bit but then full-blown menopause happened, and the inflamed bowel feeling came back 3 years ago, and I did not get treatment on the bowel as they wanted to do a colonoscopy. 😐 I did try increasing oestrogen without the doctor last year but the bowel remained inflamed. It's only recently I increased oestrogen to 50mcg and added testosterone, thanks to this Angel Dr Louse.

I live in Canada and have had to fight long and hard to get HRT and to keep taking it. Thanks to Louise Newson for her youtube videos which can inform those ignorant Canadian GP's and Gynos who know very little and go on and on about the WHI study. Thank goodness I now see a young endocrinologist who is enlightened and provides me with a prescription.

I spent 10 weeks in hospital, suicidal. I begged for a hormone blood test as I had no period for 7 months. I truly wanted to die.. They put me through hell, so many different medications. Education is needed, I'm still being neglected badly. It's a sad situation......

Thank you for the conversation and all of the brilliant education. We need more spokeswomen in Canada 🇨🇦. And re-education of GPs as well as OB/GYNs here. Women’s health has not been a priority in all world healthcare systems.

Excellent information yet again. I'm working through all your videos and am so very grateful for all you are doing and sharing which I know is going to make a huge difference to the younger generations to be looked after properly when they reach menopause. They have the right to to be recognised as valid and important hu(wo)man beings.

So interesting😮! I’m a very fit , healthy and slim 53 year old, I’ve been menopausal (hot sweats, palpitations, irritability) for about 8 years now and have never taken anything so far. Listening to you I think I should get some advice about HRT😜🥴

All women are different and experience.menopause differently. Nobody is telling you you have to take HRT. But HRT is beneficial for many women. Consider yourself lucky.

I think there could be some opposition to the use of estrogen to prevent illness because sadly our health systems around the world to various degrees are based on profit from illness, not profit based on cures and clients/patients who are healthy and fit! I do see a financial profit for pharma, curiously though I believe they fear estrogen would lower their profits overall...what good to them are healthy happy women, half the population...people? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. This was such an interesting topic. I hope some young persons will be enthusiastic to research this area, this will have extensive application, this is new territory and sounds exciting!

My neurologist and doctors refuse to let me have HRT because I have the odd aura with migraine so they say I’m a high stroke risk.. I don’t care !! I want the HRT why won’t anyone help me.

I'm going through the primenopause my doctor thinks I've had numerous blood tests. I've been so I'll for over a year I've got the merina coil she keeps saying that i need it changed before I can have HRT. I'm waiting to have it changed but because I'm so anxious I have to be put to sleep. with covid I'm just waiting for it to be done. my doctor keeps giving me antidepressants I'm sick of it. I told her I feel like I'm dying here. my life is terrible I'm ok for about 4 hours in the morning and that's it. I've have a family to look after and its killing me I'm desperate for help I just carnt cope with the slightest things and my energy is zero. I'm cutting corners with everything and I use to be so active and happy now I'm a shadow of myself if anyone reads this can you help me

Hi Shirley - I was so sad to read how much you are currently going through. I am post-menopausal and on oestrogen gel, which is a very safe way of taking oestrogen, and I have just had to Mirena coil fitted for the progesterone element. I was therefore wondering why your coil has to come out before you will be given oestrogen. Is it because you are peri-menopausal rather than post-menopausal like me. I can suggest a really good KZbin channel called Meonpause Taylor, she's an American gynae doctor and has about 250 videos. She suggests you watch them in order, rather than dipping in and out, and I agree with that. Each video builds on the last, and I have learned so much, I think I know more about menopause now than my doctor and I'm only on video 82. As Liz Earle says in this video "knowledge is power" and I hope that getting more information will empower you in your menopause journey. I was fearful of oestrogen before I started learning from her channel, now I know that oestrogen is our friend not our enemy. I hope this helps, stay strong, educate yourself and hopefully before long you will be back to the old you.

I have been advised by my GP to stop HRT because I have had a period for 4 weeks due to be examined next week, I think the reason for the bleed is my intolerance to Utrogestan which causes really low mood which Louise has covered in one of her pod cast I have followed her advice to take alternate days and insert into my vagina, and this is the result, has anyone else had this issue.

I am *very* thankful to have found you Dr. Newson! I have only known about you for about 3 days, but my suffering with vaginal dryness and pain during urination etc. started about 2 years ago. At 52, and still getting mostly regular periods, it has been getting worse and more extreme, including horrible nights of having to get up every half hour to pee, so painfully! Here in Germany, I haven't had great response from the gynecologists I have been trying out. I was sent to a urologist who prescribed something awful that made everything worse! Now after listening to so many interviews, talks, reading information, there is no doubt that HRT body identical, is what I am going to insist on. The last GYN suspects I may have Lichen Sclerosis, so presently I am taking a cortisone cream called Clobe Galen which had given some relief. What is your opinion about vaginal laser treatment?

You need to do a tad of research for your self Try The menopause Dr site its Dr Newsons own site, where you can apply for a consultation.. you should do a symptom journal too helpful for diagnosis. Or the Balance app download. Many gyne/ urologists really aren't upto scratch with the symptoms of menopause.. you may need vaginal estrogen pessary or cream or HRT or both... Please look at the site.xx

@@jappleyard2069 hello and thanks for the reply. I assume you are a doctor or work at a clinic? In any case, I had a positive appointment with a new gynaecologist today who gave me what I suppose is the standard „starter pack“ for perimenopausal women here. It is Estradiol gel (one pump) for the arm (0,6mg) with progesterone gel capsules to take orally, 15 days into my cycle. Pretty much what I’ve heard described on the various resources here. I am still taking the cortisone, but the doctor said once my period starts, I can start with the estradiol gel. I am very relieved and hopeful. I did download the app, and I have looked quite a bit at the site. I guess I just got quite desperate before knew much about HRT, and found out that this later treatment even exists. But I will ease off the cortisone and try the hormones first of course. Thanks for your help!

There are some gynaecologists in Germany who refuse to prescribe HRT. They will refer to the out of date study results and discourage the woman from pursuing HRT. Those doctors are incompetent and negligible in their care and practice. Unfortunately, it is difficult to report this kind of clinician. As German doctors are well paid for screening, tests (Igel) items and operations patients that can be influenced to undergo these are prefered, pregnant women for example, and other clients/patients are discouraged from attending the practice. These doctors will not give a competent consultation and will not offer any advice even for urinary infections instead they will advise tests or an operation such as a curette/ablation although it was not required. There is some horrendous medical negligence being practised in the area of women`s health in Germany. Do make yourself knowledgeable and always ask the practitioner to please explain their reason and give them the new information. A negligible clinician will quickly ask an assistant to explain something in gibberish to you instead of showing interest in the latest study results. There are some very good gynaecologists interested in the health of their clients/patients but they are like a rare gemstone, show your appreciation to him or her.
