Thank you Eric! I love your videos. I am from Peru, living in Canada for the last 13 years. I have a full time job in accounting but I started teaching english to a group of low income peruvian girls a year ago. So I am always trying to improve my teaching skills and your videos are really helpful. I always miss your Sundays chats, it is a litte early in this part of the world. Greetings from Vancouver!

@etacude No, thanks again this means a lot to me. The Buddy system is only the method I use often but now I have to change my mind. I will sit with these videos whenever I start planning again but I am still worried about the time that how can I include these contents within 50 mins? Anyway, I have been waiting for so long. Loved the content differentiation process.

Hi dear Erick! Thanks for this! It is really useful. You are the best! 🥰🥰 I used to have copies for a higher level of each topic in class. When I had a mix level group. They did the same work of everyone but the advanced did another more so i could work with both at the same time with the same topic. This gave me time to be aware of everyone.
@etacude3 жыл бұрын
Ah! I wish I added that to the video, Foquito! Such a good tip to have additional work for advanced students because they always finish work very quickly. As an additional note we have to remember to warn learners not to rush work just to finish as fast as possible. Next time I need you before I shoot my videos. ^^

I remember I saw your classroom management video and Man it worked like anything. I came out of the class very proud and happy teacher I repeat your quote " you have to save students from themselves " in my head😂 when I wanted to be little strict.

Hello Eric, this is Sylvia from Nigeria. Thank you for the well-planned videos. We appreciate the work you do. I would like to know if it is possible to have the three forms of Differentiation ( content, process, and product) included in a lesson or if we are required to choose one per time.
@etacude9 ай бұрын
It's possible to have all 3, but first, you need to ask yourself if it's necessary and if it will take too much time out of your schedule. Basically 2 questions: 1. Is it manageable? 2. Do your students actually need it? Answering those 2 questions will make it clear. I hope this helps!

Is there a difference between differentiation and scaffolding?
@Mars-yy9eq Жыл бұрын
My view is that scaffolding is the buliding up of a certain skill or knowledge gradually during a learning process, thus scaffolding centers on filling up the gap between where you are and where you're striving to be. Differentiation emphasizes on the different starting points of each student, and as a result, students wil be given instructions that may vary in content, process or product. Scaffolding on the other hand, in use for differentiated instructions can be cooperative learning where the high achievers might offer a certain degree of assistance to tasks that the other lower counterpart, while the high achievers might in return learn some misconcepts that are found unrealized during the teachig process.

How to deal with playful students.
@etacude2 жыл бұрын
Hi San, sorry for my late response, I did address this in a few of videos on classroom management. The short answer is that the teacher must maintain a professional distance and not allow "play" to become an excuse for disrupting the lesson. Check out my Etateach.com website or join the Sunday Live Chat with this question.

I am glad someone debunked the Peer-Tutor strategy, even as a new teacher that sounds totally ridiculous. Enslaving students is the thing I’ve been trying to avoid the most.
@abeautifullife11 Жыл бұрын
I tried a new approach to this...I have asked the Peer tutor never to give answers but give three hints to the student who needs support. Example: when a teacher asks name a fruit starting with A, the peer tutor can give the struggling student three hints, It's red, makes a crunchy sound and often seen in the breakfast tiffins of the class :) This helps the struggling student to form the answer while the peer tutor gets the challenge of giving the right hints...Most often, I feel that we have to explore the greys rather than be stuck in the whites and black.
