The menus and the pop-up messages displayed look slightly different on mine. Also this tutorial stop working for me at 5:02. There were no vibrations from the controller when I pressed the PS button, and all 4 LED lights just kept blinking for at least a minute. The name of my PS3 controller according to Retropie is "SZMY-POWER CO. PLAYSTATION(R)3 CONTROLLER," if that tells you anything.

if you don't want to hassle with a keyboard, you can ssh to retropie from another computer and issue the command: sudo ~/Retropie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh to find the ip address of my retropie I used Angry IP scanner (angryip.org/) and found RETROPIE and then ssh pi@

Thanks as usual eta, connected controller okay but one problem. The short cuts for exciting games, saving, loading states isn't working. I used an extra snes controller instead of keyboard during setup. Any thoughts? Looks like the ps3 controller is lighted as num 2, is that the problem?

Is it possible to connect two PS3 (bluetooth) controllers to Retropie - Nostalgia Dreams Damaso image? I have two controllers PS3, but I can only connect wirelessly to one each time. Either pad no. 1 or pad no. 2 works. If pad no. 1 works wirelessly, then pad no.2 only works on the cable. Conversely, if pad no.2 works wirelessly, pad no.1 only works on the cable. How to connect both pads wirelessly?

Hello, I followed your instructions to connect my PS3 controller. After I completed the process it worked great except for now I can't save my progress by pressing select + right shoulder button. Also it randomly selects a controller number 1-4.

Hi, how do I set up a generic bluetooth gamepad? I already pair my generic gamepad on the bluetooth menu on retropie, and in retropie-setup screen my gamepad now moves and work, but when I click on configure input on ES it says "No gamepad detected" Why??

I can not get this to work. I have used all of the different clone driver versions, just to be sure. I can play with the cable just fine. I even tried using the backup I created to go back to my old version, which made the bluetooth work again, and re-updating, but after updating I could not connect to bluetooth. I do not own a PS#, so I don't have to worry about a PS3 console interfering. I think I have covered all of my bases here and am at a total loss. Do you have any suggestions?

Can you use your remote while the keyboard is plugged in? It seems to be setting up my remote as slot 2 and my wireless keyboard as #1, so when I boot a game, I'm stuck :(

I get a bad amount of delay from button press to the character actually moving in game. I've tried turning the tv to game mode and that didn't help. I even moved it to HDMI 1 because I read that mattered. I can't access the individual emulator menus. It says to press a and i set that as o. any ideas? raspberrypi3 newest install of retropi. just set it up 2 days ago.

Hello there! just got my RPI3 and installed retropie on it, i get the message "Press a button to configure" when i start a n64 game, yet when i press the a button, or any button for that matter, nothing happens at all. and it just starts the game after 2 seconds. i really want to change some things up... but im just not allowed, I've tried using keyboard and ps3 controller to no avail. thanks in advance!

@ETA PRIME i did what you said exactly and it seems like either the image i'm using or the controller has a mind of its own. When I go to attract mode the controller doesn't want to work fully and when i go to emulation station it does work to a point. Seems like using a off brand ps3 controller doesn't want to work fully. How do you actually get this to work? I take it you used an official ps3 controller?

I did literally everything as you mentioned but when Im supposed to remove the USB cable to pair the controller with bluetooth connection on the pi, the controller keeps on blinking with four lights and refuses to pair. What did I do wrong?

This one had me stumped for a while too. I went in and removed all of the other controller drivers that were installed and it fixed the problem. I'm running the latest version of Retropie.

Shaun Wintheiser This drove me absolutely round the twist the first time. I guess you've worked it out by now, but for anyone else: you have to access retroarch from within a game (I used select+x from a USB controller which was working, not sure how you access from keyboard). Then you go settings - input - input user 2 binds (as the PS3 was to be my second controller installed). You configure from there, then go back to configurations and make sure save on exit is ON. I think you need to do this for one game from each emulator you have. It's actually not a bad thing, as it means you can set each emulator separately - for example, Megadrive works best with A and B switched, as A is usually the jump button.

I had my one working in e3verything, went to a friends house and installed one of his, didnt even have to change or config, anything, went ovber again but forgot my controller so I started the one that I had connected before, and it worked, then i installed his spare one, and it didnt work in an of the emulators. not all 3 work in emulation station, bot one 1 work in an emulater "random could be player 1, one game, player 3 the next" ive tryed uninstalling the drives, and deleting the retro arch config, with no luck.

just reset it, fixed the problem, 2 said playstation 6 axis and 1 said 6 axis, all were obtain with ps3 system, it seem the one that dosent say playstation on the side "its an offical controller, thought" messes it up, as it dosnt rumble when connected. 2 working controller is perfect, thought so im happy. now to try and get my wired xbox one controller to work lol.

My controller does not work, i tryed it like 5 times and my rasperry pi does not connect to my ps3 controller. when you "say plug it in" my controller starts vibrating like crazy en all the led light are blinking, when I pluged it out it stops vibrating en the leds still flash. when I press the playstation button nothing happens

I believe you have what I have (a clone controller - probably Shanwan). As far as I'm aware they are not currently working with RetroPie. I'm hoping there is a fix rolled out in 4.0 for them

+Johnny DeVille Yes, it's a common problem with non-official PS3 controllers. There is a possible fix floating around which will hopefully be patched into RetroPie in the future. Until then it only works with real Sony controllers.

After setting up per tutorial, I went to use my PS3 controller within Kodi. Up/Down and some other keys work but the curser is stuck to the left. Anyone know how to get this working properly?

The problem was I had the Xbox controller driver running along side the PS3 driver. My PS3 controller was connecting as player 3 from the start and this was causing issues. I didn't need the Xbox driver if the PS3 one would work. So I disabled the Xbox one and now I have retropie 4 booting to Kodi. From there I can press the PS Home button, connect as controller 1 and all inputs work great. Now to install the vc1 license.

This is such a hassle. And considering Retropie only covers consoles in the pre-PS3 (wired) era, I'd rather just play the games wired.

Plus playing on bluetooth drains the battery. While wired you'd never have to worry about game interruption due to low battery, thereby creating a more authentic retro gaming experience. Perhaps when Retropie 6.0 comes out on the Raspberry Pi 8 with Emulation Station supporting PS3 and XBox 360, then they'll make bluetooth more easily accessible lol!

the jumps are sluggish you should do a video on fixing it up if there are settlings to stop the sluggish jumps that suck and use mega man 2 as a good example.
