I etch glass. I have found that when you use a paint brush you get a deep and smooth etch. I do not use expensive ones either I get a huge pack of soft bristles at Michaels for less than 5.00.

Also, I’m not sure if you mentioned it, but when your time is up, you can scrape the cream back off and put it back in your jar. I’ve been using the same jar for the last year ☺️

Great job! I use this stuff all the time. Just a little tip, you can save the cream after you use it on the glass. You don't have to wash it all off. It will go farther. I use a small paint brush or one of those sponge brushes to apply it and remove it.

I don't mind the commentary. You are giving useful information

I leave mine on for about 10 mins, rinse and dry, then peel. You can really see the effect! It will only etch as much as it can and then stop so more solution won't make a deeper etch and neither will leaving it on for more than 1 min. I just did this as a Christmas gift for my dad's wife and also did several other pieces. I also found that when you print straight, you can eliminate the folding and cupping of the vinyl by using an exacto knife to cut where it's cupping and just line up the letter edges so you keep the shape it's supposed to be. A heat gun (or a hair blow dryer) may also help in allowing you to stretch the vinyl. And if nothing else, you can cut small decorative stuff like leaves, to cover any imperfections where the etch may have leaked. I hope this helps!
@twodevilsonegod4 жыл бұрын
I love your commentary! When rinsing the etching cream off peel off the vinyl at the same time. I find that warm water makes it easier. Everything else was perfect. Thank you for sharing!💖

Hey I have etched a couple of times and I learned that to protect the glass you don’t want etching on to tape around the stencil. I did some shot glasses and some cream dropped on the glass outside of the stencil. Beautiful glasses

I've been using etching cream for years (even before Cricut if you can imagine lol!) I ALWAYS glob it on good like that lol! When I painted it on with a "reasonable" thickness it came out streaky or not completely etched. I also leave mine on for at least 15 minutes. You never know how long your etching cream has been sitting on a store shelf. Some of the older bottles need a little more time to work. So no worries if you want to leave it on longer. The only method of yours I would change would be to mask off more of your glass. I'm hopeless with drips and globs so I need to guard my glass from messy mishaps lol! Thanks so much and keep up the GREAT work!

I love that I'm saying they're video on this I just thought that a etch cream last week just on a wim at Micheals and it's really easy to do. Also it's crazy saying that you use the Dollar Tree vinyl for transfer paper because I made a purchase at Joanne's online and half was canceled including my transfer paper so I saw the clear vinyl yesterday at Dollar Tree when I was there getting my clear Christmas bulbs and some trays to make for Christmas and thought maybe it might work... I see it is working pretty good for you...
