This film hits me on a very personal level. I have an old friend who I loved very much and haven't seen in years. We met on a beach and coincidentally the last night we ever spent together was also on a beach. Complete circle. She'll always have a place in my heart.

I love how they tried to forget each other but in the end still found each other again, even though they tried so hard to forget. just goes to show you that love works in mysterious ways...
@nopeteys24243 жыл бұрын
The main point of the movie is that we can’t fight our own destiny. Even after Joel and clementine erased each other they still had a connection and couldn’t help but meet again. And once they realized they had already dated and it fell apart and that it would most likely happen again, they chose to be together for however long it lasted, because the good moments of love are worth the risk of heartbreak. It’s a crazily deep movie.

The direction, the cinematography, the score, the writing, everything. This film (especially this scene) is just perfectly done. I love the duality of this scene with Joel’s conscious remembering the memory as it was and then the current Joel breaking away from the procedure/memory to give his final goodbye to Clementine before she is completely wiped from his mind. I like the ride home after when the last of the memories are being erased as Joel stares out of the car trying to hold on to them. The memory erasure worked backward. What he didn't like got erased first. What he loved about her was left, so he tried to hold on to those memories as one by one they were taken.

I love this movie and I love this scene especially, it's so moving...because at this point, all Joel can feel is just loss and regret about everything that has happened. It proves that petty differences don't matter and that love is the most important thing.

What I love about this scene is it's showing us all what it could be like if we just talk honestly how we're feeling and not be defensive. The way they are talking here as impending deletion of the memory is looming is really loving and modest - stripped of any negativity.

Time doesn’t heal all wounds, but we grow around the parts that are taken from us. The void of those missing pieces, in their own way, become part of who we are. I can’t tell you anything that will take the pain away. There is no shortcut. You just have to feel it until you don’t anymore. The best anyone can do is offer you the consolation that, in time, though the wound doesn’t ever fully heal, you can separate the pain of the loss from the joy of and gratitude for what you once had. Keep your head up.

The line is powerful because the movie took us from the end of their relationship to the beginning, and in all of our past relationships, she is always "just a girl"... at first.
