Surprised at the lack of presence in the 44B, I can see why the SM7B gets used so much in broadcasting, my favourite was the Lomo 19a9 as its focus and clarity was immediate. The host did a great job here, look forward to more demos.
@zohaiblughmani50894 жыл бұрын
The 44B is my favorite lol
@HoaiPhuong3 жыл бұрын
@Reg Rock I dislike the 44B the most. It sounds so dull. Lots of low mid. Lack of high mid and high. I agree with you that the Lomo 19A9 has the best clarity and focus.
@j.masonbrown62163 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you tend to get that with Ribbon mics. Not a lot of high end, but the 44b does sound very warm and intimate.
@zs59483 жыл бұрын
@@HoaiPhuong Albini used Lomo 19A9's as drum overheads on "in utero", that's a classic piece of kit.
@zs59483 жыл бұрын
gotta realize too that using the same preamp at the same gain level for all these mics is not going to showcase their abilities fully...a V76 has a standard impedance of 600ohms, and while that might be dandy for a dynamic mic, the RCA ribbon wants to see something many times higher than that to really shine...but i understand the point here is not a scientific shootout.

the vaseline, while seemingly playful at first glance, actually serves as a medium through which the audio can circumvent through, ultimately rendering the person wearing said vaseline in a position of complete submersion of sound. It's actually common place for audio producers to grapple with facial eczema as a result of covering their face with it day in and day out. Everybody that has so much as their left pinkie in the music production world knows this. The more you know though. FYI, there's a famous saying that's common in production circles that goes: engineering audio without an inch-thick vaseline mask is like trying to dance with iceskates on your feet (it can't be done).
@carboncringe9558 Жыл бұрын
Glad someone isn’t letting the analog art die. These digital producers will never have to know about budgeting 55 gallon drums of Vaseline into your studio bill and the funny looks you get when using it as a business write off.

Man, that Lomo 👌🏻 best of the bunch. Even with their increase in price (due to a music history fact I'll mention next) theyre _still_ a bargain compared to that U47 or something like a C12 or 251. Fun fact; those were the main mics on Nirvana's _In Utero_ album. A pair of them were used as overheads on the drums and one of those two was the main vocal mic of three that were used on Kurt Cobain's vocals. The other two being the EV RE20 (also featured here) and a Sennheiser 421. The Lomo's capsule was positioned in between and just above the other two which flanked it. Steve Albini came out and confirmed this and sold them at auction.
