What is the benefit of mixing the volume in the instrument rather than the DAW? Is this just a cpu saver, keeping everything on one single track?

The sopranos A volume, B volume, C volume and D volume in this Expanded edition are separate mics. You can control the volume of each mic in the plugin (if desired) without needing more than one stereo audio channel in the DAW. If you change them in the DAW they all will go up or down together. Conversely if you want to control them in the DAW individually you’d need multiple Kontakt instances and audio channels taking more CPU.
