Since inception in 2007 QLD (x2 etf) , has survived the 2008-09 crisis, the 2017 rough market and the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. It’s been battle tested and is performing VERY well. 15 years of historical and empirical data, has show that QLD average 24% annualized return since inception. Great video. Good job.

Very well explained. Especially pointing out to huge risks and how leveraged ETFs suffer a lot during the crash 👍

I have heard of an investment plan where you invest 40-55 percent into tqqq or upro and the remainder in a triple leveraged 20+ year treasury etf called TMF. You are then supposed to have scheduled rebalancing either monthly or quarterly.
@etfguide4 жыл бұрын
Kevin B: We haven't heard about this strategy. But the frequent re-balancing sounds laborious. Also, this would be a super volatile portfolio - probably more than the average person could stomach. Strategy wise, we teach a 3-bucket approach with a core, non-core and safety bucket. In this framework, leveraged ETFs would be assigned to the non-core portfolio. @@etfguide the strategy is to use a Roth IRA to avoid the tax cost of rebalancing, and to use M1 Finance which allows you to rebalance a portfolio with one click. The downside of M1 finance is you can only make one trade a day after the market opens. I would never bet the house on the idea though, I think of it more as a lottery ticket.

One situation to be assessed is... If Market falls 30+% in one session, then what would happen. I acknowledge circuit breakers are there for S&P at 20%.. but I don't know if there's one for Nasdaq (and how it translates impact on TQQQ). Any thoughts on this is highly appreciated
@etfguide2 жыл бұрын
FYI, stock market circuit breakers are set at 7% (Level 1), 13% (Level 2), and 20% (Level 3) of the S&P 500's closing price for the previous day. Once those thresholds are reached, trading halts kick in. For level 1 and 2, the halts last 15 minutes, then trading resumes. For level 3, trading is stopped for the remainder of the day and everyone goes home. Any trading curbs for the S&P 500 would mean trading halts for ETFs tied to the index, including 2x and 3x leveraged funds with bull and bearish strategies. Best, Ron
@narayanasunil2 жыл бұрын
@@etfguide agreed Ron... Thes breakers are on S&P500,. Are there any specific breakers on QQQ... If not, is there some possibility that Nasdaq could fall 30% in a day (while the S&P 500 may fall 20%) and then the trading halts for the remainder of the day. Thanks
@etfguide2 жыл бұрын
@@narayanasunil "MWCB" or Market Wide Circuit Breakers also apply to the Nasdaq, here's more: www.nasdaq.com/articles/market-wide-circuit-breakers%3A-what-you-need-to-know-2020-03-09

@@etfguide Hello Ron,. I apologize if I am misunderstanding here. My query is what if S&P falls 19%(which is below the circuit breaker of 20%) ,. While Nasdaq falls over 30%>>> As S&P is only 19% dropped the trading continues in the day. Is it impossible to happen.. Thank You
@etfguide2 жыл бұрын
@@narayanasunil One day declines of 19% for the S&P 500 or 30% for the Nasdaq has never happened in history. Anything can happen in the future, but the chances of a single day decline that large are low...given the existence of circuit breakers, which are designed to prevent that sort of crash. There's always a chance the circuit breakers could fail, but the odds seem pretty low. Hope this helps! Ron
