He helped his brother customize special requested guns for his shop, and also served as a weapons instructor for the Special Tactics And Rescue Service. He is most known for finalizing the Beretta 92F S.T.A.R.S. Special, which he named the "Samurai Edge." Joe Kendo shop is located in San Francisco, the handgun that Leon starts with in RE4 is engraved "Kendo Custom Shop," similarly to the Samurai Edge. Point shooting is honestly how it should be at most ranges the game’s encounters take place, shouldering and getting behind a sight when the target is less than 5 metres ( point blank ) is stupid irl. Granted, maybe you would with a handgun at 15 yards. I honestly dont mind it with Ethan moreso than I do with Chris.

With any form of formal training ADS becomes muscle memory, point shooting like Ethan does isn't even taught in reactivate training or C.A.R style shooting. It's literally a panic shot or something a newbie would do.

ethans probably one of the most controversial characters in a game but i love his one liners he asked a lot of dumb shit in re8 but he still had some great quotes if you actually payed attention to the script i also found it really cool how much detail they put into him reloading and everything i also feel like they made re7s weapon variety for ethan really small like handguns and that one pump and break action and grenade launcher because they were the easiest to use without training in this game ethan has a shit ton of training so he can have a lot more weapons

His grip on that 1911 is atrocious though. So much so that it's painful to look at. Also, @1:52 he drops a round directly into the chamber when the handguard is forward when the bolt should be closed making that impossible? Then after loading the tube he runs the pump which would have ejected the round in the chamber even if he did magic it in there.

I like the idea of the reloads in RE8 looking more sophisticated and disciplined as opposed to the civilian style reloads in RE7. And the fact that they also had a believable reason for it being that way is "Military Training" is also nice and it even shows a little of Ethan's growth as a character since the events of RE7.

Just a thought from what I've observed here. When Ethan is fully empty he tosses the magazine into oblivion but when he reloads with a bullet left in the mag he does the tactical switch to save the remaining bullet. Throwing the mag into oblivion is videogame logic where its assumed that he's got an unlimited supply of empty mags on his person. In real life you would always want to do the tactical switch. You would never hurl an empty magazine onto the ground. Maybe if you were literally in the middle of a fire fight but that would still seam stupid. The way he palms the empty mag while inserting the fresh mag is how it should always be done no matter what.

1:38 I'm not an expert but Ethan just put a shell into the firing chamber and after loading the other shells in he primed the gun again. So he just ejacted a live shell. So much for his military training.

If you look at it realistically, In a situation, you may forget that you have loaded a live bullet whilst encountering enemies, so his instincts tell him to reload only to find out later that he has ejected it. I know it’s a crappy explanation but it works.

I will say, the two missing fingers bothers me. No one is that comfortable a few hours at most after losing two fingers, especially stuff that requires precise hand maneuvers like reloading. I don’t even fully get why they put so much emphasis on Ethan’s hands being damaged without also allowing him to do something to fix his fingers. A prosthetic, maybe some basically magic to create new fingers, maybe he replaces them with someone else’s fingers. It’s not like he doesn’t do something much similar later.

@@Alex-vp7lm Actually no. It doesn’t shoot anti-B.O.W rounds by default. It shoots normal pistol cartridges or R.A.M.R.O.D.S which are cartridges specialized to destroy the mold and avoid regeneration. It is still a super cool weapon and my favorite though.

Funny how in RE 8 when you have a pump action shotgun. Winters reload a round into the chamber. Reload all the rounds but somehow pump the shotgun again. There’s a shell in the chamber you don’t need to re chamber a round. That’s a waste of ammo
