@@tankie9997 I don’t actually think he is clever enough to be consciously aware of it. Google the ‘narcissistic false self’. It involves a pathological type of cognitive dissonance often seen in people like Hasan, and most narcissists don’t have the self-awareness required to understand their behavior. Ex: “The false self replaces the narcissist's true self and is intended to shield him from hurt and narcissistic injury by self-imputing omnipotence. The narcissist pretends that his false self is real and demands that others affirm this confabulation, meanwhile keeping his real imperfect true self under wraps.”

This is why Hasan should never have let Ethan on his show, because Ethan actually has beliefs and principles. You may not agree with him but at least he is honest and stands for something. Hasan does what a lot of creators do and that is pander to an audience, that they created and cultivated. Hasan is not an intellectual heavy weight, neither is Ethan but Ethan has faith in his convictions and that is more powerful than just trying to not enrage your algorythm funelled audience that don't ever want to hear something that they dont agree with or have any of their beliefs challenged because they are intellectually feeble.

This whole conversation was like watching an abusive relationship. One person is in pain, open to hearing the other side's issues, but ultimately just wants to be heard empathically. Hasan responds with the coldest, hand-wavy remarks to even the egregious indefensible Second Thought comments. You could tell Ethan came away very dissatisfied with the responses, but gaslights himself into thinking he just needs to be MORE good faith to these disgusting people who won't even give an INCH of empathy for innocent civilians. 7:04 Some fact checking on that: I checked out the voting data of Beeri and Kfar Aza, the two kibbutz that suffered some of the highest numbers of casualties. They had 1,226 voters. They split 9% to the right-wing coalition and 88% to the center and left parties in the opposition, including 13% to the farthest left Jewish party Meretz that failed getting into Parliament last election with 150K votes out of 154K needed. The other 3% went to some very small parties that can't get into Parliament. Gantz's centrist party that joined the coalition this week to show unity got 16%. They were defiantly strongly left leaning. I might call the people that vote Meretz pro Palestinians advocates. Most of them would still considered themselves Zionists, but some of the representees of the party are Israeli Palestinians and they are strongly anti settlements.

These types of attacks have going on there since the early 1900s.

@@silotx …and when you can easily characterize every Israeli as being just that by so many prominent lefties calling them _all_ colonizers, then you justify one’s extreme hatred towards them all just as easily, as well - “no no no, I mean da joos that have extreme hate and support anti-Palestinian ideals, just _those_ ones... those are okay to hate so easily” Then one by one, anyone that is Jewish that has any slight disagreement to one’s views on the matter can be easily cast as someone who fits that bill, justifying their hatred. This is no different than when far rightoids coming fresh from baby’s first week on /pol/ tries to lay low and hide their bullshit with “no no I only mean da joos that want to rule the world, no no I mean da joos that want to erase whiteness, no I totally mean just da joos in our government” to act as if their seething hate is justified and far from extreme, then when something happens, they can ramp it up and say “ah see this is how those Jews are…” with zero distinction, much like how a lot of these pro-Palestinian protests do with their chants out in public. They’re not saying “gas the Jews that support the death of Muslims and Palestinians” … they’re full on saying all, and so many lefties yassss kweening that shit with pride all over social media, but sure. Let’s pretend it’s totally not happened. Let’s act as if there’s totally a difference to further justify the hate that just keeps going further and further down a hole of extremes. /pol/tards have used that same exact reasoning to slip their bullshit among the right. I’d know, I was apart of it for a few dark years. Got to where I could easily convince others the evils of the Jewish people by justifying anything by trying to make a distinction with “no no what I am saying isn’t antisemitism, it’s just certain Jews that support X/Y/Z, I mean just certain Israelis…” and over time, you can just very easily make it about them all. All Israelis. All Jewish people. That’s the hill your reasoning goes down. It’s dark and does nothing to help any side… just fuels hate and makes shit worse.

Violence and finger pointing won’t end this. The Palestinians need a sympathetic leader to mainstream their plight in Gaza and West Bank. All that gets promoted about them is the violence and antisemitism.

The Palestinians won't ever get the mainstream sympathy that they need in the west because , unfortunately, and for maybe good reason, Jewish organisations have such leverage, that isn't conspiratorial to say, it's just true.

Well, the war would have to end first, and the mutual hatred needs to calm down - about a decade or so is needed to establish a longer lasting peace. This is impossible with a hardliner Israeli government. Both need to approach each other. Perhaps the world might help, since this conflict is right in the middle of everyone's mind.

The issue I see is that no one really talks about what Hamas actually wants. They want the whole country and Jews out the country. That’s what is about ,from 1948-1967 Gaza was controlled by Egypt and there no issues. They don’t want Jews as leaders of the country at all. I use to think they just want they own land. That’s not it, Israelis offered a split state 10 times, with there own land and government the whole 9 yards even more land. They rejected it every time. The only reason they have all these checkpoints and monitor them so much, because whenever they didn’t they attacked Jews. Hamas is religious extremists group. They get billions instead fixing up there city and do the right thing for they’re people, they buy weapons and dig tunnels. With the money they get there no reason they should rely on Israel. They feel like the whole country is there’s and want Jews out and don’t want peace. Jordan itself was created for the Palestinians. It’s really sad

I understand how anybody could support hamas or isreal. Nobody is right. The people are suffering because of this, isrealis and Palestinians. Yeah hamas did some fucked up shit, but theres no moral high ground when you retaliate by also doing the same thing hamas did. Theres no moral high ground to killing innocent people. I just hate the false dichotomy of if you criticize isreals response, your automatically pro hamas, which is just not true. For me at least. Its like, if someone kills your family, are you going to retaliate against the murderers neighbhors? No, attack the right people. This is like 9/11 all over again.
@luminous3558
@luminous3558 Жыл бұрын
The reason why there is a difference is because of How it happened. Israel shooting missiles into gaza is just the same old same old game of catch both sides play every once in a while. Hamas actually went into israel and went full splatter horror movie on innocent civilians and tourists. Its just not defensible to sane humans even if the resulting death toll might look similar. You got casualties of war and then you got the murder victims of psychopathic killers.

"why take the fence-sitting position" - Destiny "why not just own it that you support Hamas and genocide" - Destiny There's a reason. It's called humanity. There is a big difference between violence being necessary for political causes, and all forms of political violence being okay. And there is a difference between retalation being expected, and that all forms of retalation are justified. For a person like Destiny who loves to consider himself nuanced, he wants to oversimplify the situation to something like "Hasan loves Hamas and genocide." That would be the easiest "dunk". It would also be an imaginary opponent. I heard people complain a lot about this exchange, but upon further examination, people are simply trying to distort what others are saying. It's not even a debate if you can not correctly state what your interlocutors are saying.

You don't have to be pro hamas to be anti-zionism. You don't have to be pro hamas if you feel strongly for Palestinians and not for Israelis given the context, the infrastructural advantage Israel has over the West Bank/Gaza, and the previous 70 years of shit that Palestinians have had to endure as pretty much second class citizens. No Westerner is pro-Hamas, they're just sick and tired of hearing disproportionate amounts of Palestinians dieing and getting injured in relation to Israeli casualties and nothing concrete being done about it.

Meatshields? Also wasn’t the two state solution denied by Palestinians multiple times? Also wasn’t Israel dog piled by all of the middle east in multiple wars? Israel is surrounded by people that don’t want to negotiate, want to kill them all, and they’re all around. And they’re called colonizers when the Arabs were some of the biggest colonizers of their time.
