So is the chrome spring black spring universal for left side right side? Also I guess it doesn't matter but I noticed that ends/beginning of the springs r different lengths. One is longer does it matter which goes in the cap hole or the brake arm hole?

What’s the difference between having brakes on seat stay or chain stay?.
@Smokey71863 жыл бұрын
No real difference. They use to go on chain stays but when sprockets got smaller and smaller. It's hard to get under the chain with tools for adjustments. So now alot have it on seat stays.
@takeiteasy63462 жыл бұрын
@@Smokey7186 good to know, wish my brakes were in my chain stay, looks way cleaner

So why are V-brakes used on race bikes and U-brakes on street/freestyle? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? I guess the brake posts might be in a different position so it depends on what the frame is designed to accept but why would the frame manufacturers prefer one over the other? As a non-BMXer (I'm more DJ and MTB) I'd guess that you need more power/less modulation for freestyle so the wheel is fully locked when you do a fufanu for example, but for racing you want more modulation and less weight, maximum power not so important? Edit: Rule of thumb = approximately 1 inch.

Rule of thumb: comes from ye old days where you couldn't hit your "wife" with a stick bigger than your thumb.
@hectorn.61373 жыл бұрын
Yo!! Phu's killing me here! Let me preface this by saying that I've been chasing my tail for a while now trying to dial my brakes in tight. Very little take up. So naturally, my pads are ever so close to the rim surface. But after every ride, I have to re-dial them because they'll touch one spot. < OCD NO! NO! So, according to this, I had the springs swapped. So now I have the chrome one on the left=upside down right. But when I turn it like you show here, my spring unwinds. Not tighten up. WHAT THE PHU?1?1 #phufanu #brochachoindistress

I looked away for a few moments, noticed the video is going over 11 minutes and Phu still doesnt have the goddamn brakes finished off yet. Holy fuck dude, brakes are easy just put them on, max tighten your cable, give each spring a baby amount of tension, then loosen the barrel adjuster on the frame to suit you. This was painful dude.
