The "woodywoodpecker" bird head is actually the Raod runner from a 70's Plymouth Road Runner muscle car.
@leereoder
@leereoder 2 жыл бұрын
It is NOT from the Plymouth Roadrunner. The bird's name on the bike is Mr. Horsepower invented by Clay Smith because he had red hair. It is the logo for Thrusher Hotrod parts. The Plymouth Roadrunner uses the Looney Toons Roadrunner from the cartoons on the cars and Plymouth commercials.

I think there are actually 3 types of disc brakes. There's the full mechanical one on the bike in the video. Then there's the full hydraulic set up. There's also cable actuated hydraulic brakes. The first and last ones are generally liked by those who do cycle tours. Easier to source parts and do field repairs compared to full hydraulic disc brakes.

The side that drags, disengage the spring and bend it outwards a bit. When you're adjusting the fine adjust screws, think the opposite - when you tighten the screw inwards it will put tension on the spring and push the arm outward. So screw in the side that drags, and the other side that is too far out loosen the screw a little. Every time you make an adjustment, squeeze the brake lever like 20 times, sounds like overkill I know but it helps in my experience. If that still isn't working, disengage the spring on the loose side and bend it a tiny bit towards the wheel (to make less tension on that arm). You can also take the arms off and make sure the boss is clean, and then apply new grease.

@Phu the correct name is Calliper, just like on a Car. Cars have drum brakes or disk brakes with a Calliper, as you know a V-Brake is not called a side pull. Nice one mate. ✌️😎 The Canta Lever’s brake name is from architecture and uses a very simple but powerful design often used in the building industry.

Question brother Phu.. Aside from coaster brakes, are there other brake systems that are "bar-spin friendly"? I'm thinking like front tire disc brake, but the cable goes through the headset so as not to get tangled while bar-spinning. The headset maybe the new thing here if you know what I mean. Great video btw.. Greetings from the Philippines..

Brake #1 = Side pull caliper. Cantilever & V brake same mounts. Old canti levers pull less cable vs V-brake levers. Cantis came from tandems to MTB-BMX. Original L shaped arms stuck out 90 degrees from frame/fork. Cantis are terrible ankle biters as BMX rear OR branch catching front straddle cable causing endo.V brake much more tucked in + modulated pull.
@TuesdaysTurn
@TuesdaysTurn 2 жыл бұрын
Yep, on my old bmx bike the original canti brakes were terrible. I replaced them with v-brakes and they're awesome. My first pair of Shimano v-brakes didn't work well on the old bmx frame. I did some research and found out they don't sit down far enough. I put Box Three v-brakes on there and they worked perfectly.

I for the life of me cannot get U-brakes to work worth a damn if the bike has a gyro, imo V-brakes are the way to go, if you draw a path from where the shoe sits to where it contacts the rim it's a straight line, U-brakes move in an arc, so technically it'll take longer to contact and have less force since it's not traveling in only one direction, V-brakes should be the standard regardless of style, plus easier to adjust n dial in
