T-Mike you have a great way of breaking things down, the simple explanations are the best ones!

Fuel stabilizer added to fresh fuel is far better than just running the engine periodically. Fuel separation is what you are describing and it will contaminate the rest of the fuel in the tank when not treated. In my marine engines I use Startran and it protectes the fuel safely for one year. They say two years, but I only count on one. I run the tank low at the end of boating season and fill with fresh fuel, add stabilizer and run the fuel through the engine. Yamaha owners manual says regular unleaded, so that's what I run. Top tier fuel only. When I buy a 5 gallon tank for equipment, I use Stabil and add as soon as I get home. It works great and I mix for my two strokes out of that and all is good.

Hi Mike, New to your channel and just starting to watch a few of your earlier videos. I did one on this subject too on my channel and I do the same thing. I don't run my motors in the winter months so what I do is run them till they just start dying with the fuel shut off and hit the intake with Yamalube which lubricates the carb for storage. I also take the plugs out and put some in the cylinders and rotate the flywheel a few times to get the lube worked into the cylinder walls. I do the same with my lawnmower and all my yard equipment.

I just add some Seafoam in all my gas stored for longer times. My outboard, lawnmowers and motorcycle all get the seafoam treatment before storage. It's not a bad idea to run some Seafoam thru all your engines once or twice a year to clean them out and keep them running smoother.

That's good advice on running them often. Got a couple generators and set alerts on phone to say run them. Of course something comes up and I don't. No mix, but stabilizer in them. Lucky so far but need to be more dillegent

Been doing the same for years with no problems 👍👍👍

Ethanol is nothing but Farmer Welfare and Yes I am from Iowa and your MPG is less than Gas with no Ethanol. I do not run Ethanol in my Outboard because it does not start as good when it’s cold and I am talking down into the teens F Duck hunting in Iowa.

Ethanol also attracts water. On my small engines (weed eaters and chainsaws) turns fuel lines to jelly and they dissolve. 10% less fuel economy. So if you can find it with no ethanol for about 10% more, you come out even. Love your channel, but gonna disagree on this. And study showed carbon emmissions on corn production to put in gas create 27% more green house gasses than if you just ran straight gas. Off soap box. Keep up the good work

Do you add any kind of ethanol treatment to the gas such as Lucas or STP?
@michaeljsimon2 жыл бұрын
Nope - just run your motors regularly- thx

I have a Johnson 28 I bought on boat brand new in 1992. I live in Michigan and park boat for five months every year. I run engine dry, drain bowl and then fog engine. No troubles yet? I use the gas that contains ten percent alcohol. I do put some stabilizer in fuel but don’t think it’s nessesary
