The thing with the insta moneky black borders is that the only time you will get the 2-2-0, 2-0-2, 0-2-2, and 1-1-0, 1-0-1, 0-1-1 and the 0-0-0 cross paths is in the daily event prizes making them even more rare as those cross paths aren't inside the collection event at all. I have every other cross paths with a ton on multiples on all the monkeys but those paths on them all. Only ones i have in those paths are won from daily events if i am lucky enough to catch them.

Having played FFXI since close to it's launch, yeah. Long grinds aren't hard or difficult. There's no skill requirement to doing something that just takes a year to do. For those that don't know, FFXI is a MMO. It has a weapon tier known as "ultimate weapons". There is currently essentially 4 versions of these, Relics, Mythics, Empyreans and Aeonics. Relics used to take a year or so to get, and still take around a month of grinding. Mythics were also around a year or so to get, and are probably currently much longer than Relics. Empyreans became a lot quicker to initially get, but much harder to max out - At launch you could unlock one in a few days of no-lifing, but it takes probably 2-3 months to max one out. Then there's Aeonics. So, relics took next to no effort. There were a few one-time challenges for them, but those were required for OTHER things as well, so not really directly tied to relics themselves. And all of these challenges except like, one, is stupidly easy to solo these days. So Relics were just a long time investment, aside from the difficulties of running a Dynamis guild. But I don't really consider guild management to be part of the difficulty of actually acquiring something, and that particular point is completely moot these days anyway. Next, Mythics. Mythics at launch required QUITE a lot of skill to get, due to requiring you to complete pretty much all of the endgame at the time per mythic. These days... well, you can kinda just one-shot most of them due to powercreep. So, used to be hard, is now just long. Empyreans... were never "really" hard, as half the stuff you have to fight to unlock and upgrade them was duoable at launch, it was just time consuming. So again, not really... hard. Just time consuming. Then came Aeonics. Aeonics are the most recent, and most current, ultimate weapon. While some jobs definitely still optimally want relics/mythics/empyreans, Aeonics are the ones that aren't from massively outdated content. Aeonics take less than a day to unlock. But they require defeating every. single. Escha. Boss. FFXI has a very famous stupidly difficult boss known as Absolute Virtue. Back during this guy's reign, he was likely in the top 20 most difficult bosses in any game. Escha's final boss, the one you have to kill to get an Aeonic, is a powered up, revamped version of Absolute Virtue. That's right. One of the hardest bosses to ever grace gaming, got a powered up version, and is required for an Aeonic. THAT? THAT is what a hard, difficult unlock is. Getting something that's simply gated behind time and RNG isn't really... hard. At all. Literally anyone could get it. Getting something that's gated behind a challenge that, simply put, the vast majority of people simply will never be able to do? THAT is hard. No one without a disability considers it "hard" to walk 10 miles. But it's "hard" to run 10 miles. If something has a skill requirement of literally 0, it's not hard to do. Time consuming? Yeah. It's not "hard" to win the lottery, it's unlikely. It's not "hard" to write to 1000, it's just boring. It's not "hard" to mine a chunk out in Minecraft, it's just boring and time consuming and mostly pointless. Something being hard to do and not wanting to do something are not the same thing.

Getting the black borders aren't to difficult. Some in depth guides take the time to lay out when to use abilities and such so it's pretty easy compared to everything else on the list

*The following comment is outdated as of 21.0* Don't know if it's been said already, but I believe that getting all Insta-Monkeys Black Bordered is made even harder simply because of Tier 0s. All other Tiers are at least mathematically possible to obtain (T1 and T2 from Daily Chest, T3 and T4 from Round 100, T5 from Diamond Chest), but T0 is legitimately impossible for at least a few towers because the only way to get them is through the Daily Challenges. This means that you're completely at the mercy of NK to put a T0 as a reward, which is extremely unlikely and hasn't even been done for certain towers. Who would've thought that the lowest level Instas are the absolute hardest to get?

I'm not good enough at math to speculate if this is actually correct or not, but I'm pretty sure that mathematically speaking, since collection events are only at best monthly, and you can only get an upwards of 100 something insta monkeys PER collection, and since RNG means no matter what you will get duplicates, you likely cannot get every insta black bordered within the normal human life span.
