I always thought the Ether in Xenoblade 1 was basically magic carbon (since they said it's the basis of all life).
@ArinJager14 жыл бұрын
funny you say that... in the fiction story I was making (not that you should care about that or anything), there's a "crystal" (basically solidified energy - it's also "alive" and sentient and comes from space - think meteor and jenova from FF7, so it's not native to the planet the story takes place on, but that's besides the point) substance and it exists in three states: Solid (crystals), Liquid (pools), and Gas (like "mist" in FF9 or 12)... it's also omnipresent, albeit in varying concentrations (it's in the air, water, and soil, it's in the plants, animals/monsters,... but it makes people sick, so it's basically like radiation poisoning - it either kills you in the better case, or you mutate into a monster and lose your humanity)... What I'm trying to say: it's a metaphor to coal, petroleum/crude oil, and natural/fossil gas, and it's used to "fuel" the technology of that world's civilisation ("magitech" - airships and whatnot... it's basically like current age Earth tech level, but a "what if" if we had that kind of substance at disposal, current age or near future, I mean, they're more advanced, but only thanks to that substance...)... I think I even named the gas one "ether" (but can't remember the other two... I've been making that thing a looong time ago, never really turned it into anything in particular, either, I wish I could... Xenoblade is super similar to the style it'd have if made into a game...)... So, your "magic carbon" (tho' not everything is made out of carbon) kinda reminded me of that... The Ether in Xenoblade 1 to me was more like the string theory/super strings, more than anything else... oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ sorry to bother you with my nonsense, thanks for reading

Ok ether is mabe an atome. But in XC1&2 is there water ether. So not Carbon in H2O.

About the Alvis vs Mythra thing, I think it may be a difference in specialties. Where he was far more prediction focused than her
@angeldude1015 жыл бұрын
Alvis would definitely be nerfed in XC2 and Pneuma buffed in XC1, but not to the degree the other is shown to have in that game. XC2 Pneuma < XC2 Alivs < XC1 Pneuma < XC1 Alvis

yeah, it might be couse of their names they have different specialities, has ontos means being, and pneuma soul. IDK

@ArinJager14 жыл бұрын
there are three aegises... and there are three types of blades (attacker, healer, tank)... Mythra is attacker, Malos I have no idea but probably a tank... and Alvis would be healer/support, probably... Since all the other blades basically come from them and they're sort of archetypes... (but hey I could be totally wrong, too)

16:30 actually at the end of Torna Mythra has a vision of xc2 events, as clear as Shulk's ones. I believe her foresight usually is so nerfed because she isn't in her Pneuma form, where she is more connected to the zohar/conduit and so her powers become stronger.
@longhorneagle995 жыл бұрын
Spoilers for torna I'm pretty sure the foresight rex has has more to do with zohar shenanigans than anything else, as when my thra had her vision st the end of torna she also had incomplete transformation into pneuma, which would explain why she was able to see farther into the future than normal. It would go pyra-> nothing, mythra-> limited foresight, partially transformed mythra-> greater foresight, and pneuma -> complete reality warping. Which would make sense with how each form is progressively more in tune with the zohar

For the eventual protag battle, maybe the battle field can be built by the Nopon Archsage to keep things as balanced as possible. It'd have no impact on the outcome of the battle, but you know what they say, "Nopon Archsage expecting good show, meh heh heh."

I'm thrilled to hear, that you started playing Xenosaga. Depending on what type of gamer you are, Xenosaga is either the best or worse part of the Xeno meta-verse. You might guess from my avatar, that I absolutely love the franchise. Especially the first and third game. But you need to be in that mindset that watching a lot of sequences between the dungeons is fun. I personally absolutely love that. It's sometimes like watching an anime where you get to do the fighting between awesome story beats and twists. Another times the deep story serves as a great motivation for doing what you are doing in the game. It's a lot of ludo-narrative going on. There is nothing better than being rewarded with a great epic plot twist sequence after beating a strong boss at the end of a dungeon. But I've seen a lot of these "story is gameplay's bitch" dudes who absolutely don't care for great stories in videogames at all. Those people vehemently hate games like Xenosaga. I personally think that stuff like story, characters, setting and music is even more important than gameplay.

@@neonblackbeast7243 My condolences. But I guess that you enjoyed the characters and world then. :D Xenosaga Episode III in particular has a quite wistful atmosphere. But at the same time it was so good, imo. I kept that feeling for a long time and when Nintendo bought Monolith Soft it was clear to me that they will never make another Xenosaga game again. It felt so absolute and made me even more sad. And looking at Nintendo portfolio, I though that they won't even make anything else like that ever again. But I'm really happy with how much they have been steering the series back towards Xenosaga. It's still not an actual sequel and even with KOS-MOS as a cameo, she didn't get enough screen time. But at least, Shion and KOS-MOS met again in some form in Xenoblade 2.
@federicofilippini67804 жыл бұрын
Tbf its way more probable that Nintendo and Bandai would collab in doing a new game with both xenosaga it’s just highly unprobable but it can happen since kos-mos is already in the game and it falls under xenosaga stuff plus in project x zone 2 there are both xenoblade and xenosaga characters on the team they already cooperated, the problem is if they want to but hey we will see. After all I find weird that there are so many hints at something bigger in xenoblade 2 with the whole parallel universe stuff

I think that it's less that Pneuma or Alvis would be stronger or weaker than the other if they met in the same universe. Ie, If Pneuma was in XC1 she would receive a buff resulting in greater power than was shown in XC2, while the opposite would be true of Alvis. However, the reason I believe that one would be stronger nor weaker than the other is because at their core their powers are fundamentally different, that is they manipulate Ether in different ways. Alvis, or Ontos because let's be real that's probably who he is, has the inherent ability to manipulate space and time to the point where he's able to utilize a version of the second true magic. That is he was able to travel between dimensions. Yes his power was enough to create an entirely new world, but it was more that he manipulated already existing ether at the behest of his 'wielders' than actually creating stuff. Pneuma on the other hand, has the power to "bring whatever she imagines to reality" (not sure if that's the exact tutorial quote but close enough). If we take that literally it means she has the power to warp the fabric of reality to suit her needs, by say making Rex fast enough to match Jin despite not moving at the speed of light. I'm not sure how a fight between the two would go because while Pneuma could just imagine what she needs to defeat Alvis, he could counter by manipulating time and space to avoid or nullify her attack. Anyway, enough of my ramblings. To whomever reads this comment all the way to the end: have a good rest of your day. And to anyone who didn't read the entire comment; you have a good day as well.

I don't think there's any difference between them at all, more likely that on ontos or alvis is just a fully realized aegis, who had a greater access to the Zohars power for what ever region.

I like to think of ether as nanomachines in the air. Think the cloud sea, but perhaps far less. When you make a request, the nanomachines make it possible. (Edit to expand a bit more) I also believe that blades and titans are also nanomachines. Much like Emeralds being a nanomachine colony. If I remember correctly, blades take the shape of their driver's will or something like that. It could be that the core crystals are machines that can use the nanomachines to create themselves. That would explain why they're immortal and have a basic understanding of themselves as well as certain things like language and their powers. Maybe even the driver binding a blade is just someone making a request of the zohar. Those that are less attuned ether are unable to bind. Though I suppose that's not really accurate as noppon's are meant to be good with ether.

I always saw Shulks vision as a usage of ether, where Mythra's foresight was a "mere" calculation of the world. This would be possible because of the data an aegis core possesses. Mytra personaly called it an "prediction of the immediate future" this would mean that Mythra's would be capable purely based upon knowlede and Shulks becaus of ether controll.

So ether is basically pre-20th century science before Fantasy writers were like, "You know, this Classical elemental stuff doesn't make sense anymore. But it's cool. Eh, let's just say it's magic. No explanation needed." I like the idea that their universes' physics themselves are just completely different from ours. It also more or less brought back that original concept of The Classical Elements being fundamental building blocks of life which can be manipulated through science. (Melia coughs from another room.) The only other intellectual property I have seen that in is Dauntless, and that--Well, I have a love-hate relationship with Dauntless.
