So in regards to months in Alrest, Rex asks for the date at the start of chapter 2 to rig up his comapass like device, and Pyra says it's Amamothober in English but October in Japanese, so they probably have similar if not the same months as us
@T101G6 сағат бұрын
About seasons - it’s stated when the party is travelling to Tantal that it is currently “early fall” so Alrest definitely knows what seasons are. However, considering it’s on the equator so seasons wouldn’t have much of an effect that makes me think that it’s unlikely Alrest has any seasons based holidays.

Obviously Alrestian Christmas would have to fall on the 25th of Amathatober
@angeldude1018 сағат бұрын
Considering the far weaker seasons from being on the equator, it's possible Alrest might not even use a solar calendar at all. They could however use a lunar calendar, since the phases of the moon would still be a visible cycle. It's possible that they count notice the arc the sun forms in the sky shifting in its own cycle and could define 12 or 13 months based on that (12 especially since the people making the calendars are math nerds, which let's be honest, they probably are). However since the month would be much more visible than the year, rather than stretching the length of a month to fit a full year, they might instead compress the year to fit a whole number of months. This is assuming the situation described in another comment, where some Earth humans when designing the beanstalk adding an Easter egg by making the glyphs become Christmas colors once a year, didn't happen. Otherwise they could very well end up accidentally making a solar calendar based entirely on that.

A couple thoughts on the equatorial locale of the world tree. The alrest calendar would likely be lunar since there would be very little variation of the days length. And I could be not correctly understanding, but I believe the equator doesn’t get the cyclone storms. They start small near the equator and spin out to the tropics and beyond. It is still possible that the cloud sea negates them forming at all though

Video suggestion: how long is the main story of every xeno/blade game in-universe?
@angeldude1018 сағат бұрын
Xenoblade 3 is simultaneously at least 3 months long and under 5 second long, but I'm not sure if we know anything about the other games.
@Bighomie396 сағат бұрын
@angeldude101 Xenoblade 2 is probably shorter, seeing as the entire segment from Morytha onwards can't be more than a couple days

I would argue that due to the supposed uniform weather and the arbitrary migratory nature of the Titans that the crops wouldn't even follow a yearly cycle to begin with, it'd just grow and grow year round, so farmers would acclimate to just harvesting when it's ready regardless of their neighbors or the 'calendar'. Stretch that concept and there would be no seasonal anythings for anyone to recognize and celebrate, the only exception being the full/new moon. I think the lack of a creation myth is because of the Titans as well. They are long-lived enough to bring their creating into the future (meaning man never needed to record it on anything) but old and senile enough to not bother recounting it to anyone, until they get too big to bother talking to the lessers either.
@TrinityCore607 сағат бұрын
And even then, that only applies to the ones that can speak. It’s established (though probably implied) that Titans that can talk, like Azurda, are REALLY rare, giving even less of a reason for regular people to know about it.

Worth considering, the world tree was made by modern humans in modern society; I don’t think it’s that silly to assume that it is designed to turn on Christmas lights during Christmas, alrest then celebrates “the day the world tree’s lights go weird colors for some reason”.

Santa Klaus is coming to town... 🎵🎶 Edit: No, really, both having names derived from the same source, both being bearers of "Gifts", both having evil counterparts in Zanza and Krampus... and once you factor in "World Architect" vs "Saint" Nicholas taking on a role started by the "god" Odin?

Literally such a great video for the holidays. The thought at the end about potential food control through how unpredictable alrestian farming and crop growing can be was both insane and really thought provoking. Maybe not in Alrest, but in NLA I hear they celebrate when the first day of December has some awfully strong winds
@Bighomie3911 сағат бұрын
Couldn't it be any day in December? The festive song Uncontrollable, which is heard all throughout NLA during the Boreal Zephyr Festival, specifies that the wind blows hard in December, not which day it blows hard on. For example, if there were a light breeze on the 1st, but gale force winds on the 3rd, then the Festival would be held on December 3rd.

If Uraya breached like that, wouldn't everybody living in the titan be tossed around inside and DIE?!?? Seems kinda farfetched that Uraya would engage in that behavior for that very reason, even despite being a whale-like titan.

Morag would more than likely actually be named "Emperor" since she would be the actual ruler if she had acended. Empress would more than likely imply she's the wife or consort of the emperor and their job would be to birth an heir for the emperor. Emperor would better express that she is indeed the ruler rather than a spouse. despite being a masculine term.

Thank you that brings me peace. I can not stand XBCX retaining itself into the XBC 1,2,3 series. I want it to stay as a Xenogears and Xenosaga reboot. Also I pray they uncensor the story and bring back terms like Logos Artificial Destiny Emancipator. It is the only thing holding me back from preordering it. (Long time Xenogears and Xenosaga fan. Enjoyed Xenoblade Chronicles 2 + Torna, but keep them separate).

I brought this up in conversation with some friends and realised that Xenoblade 3 has a few candidates for this trope (forgive me, I haven't played Saga yet) -Ethel is definitely a mentor-ish character everyone looks up to, but is removed from the plot very early -Riku fits the "knows everything somehow despite pretending to be just some guy" thing Citan has but is otherwise just a Nopon, unless you count the fact that he carried Lucky Seven for 1000 years and didn't use it -Noah and N fit the cool guy with a katana archetype, and technically N does betray the City while Noah's arc is about NOT doing that, but ehhh they fill a more protagonisty role and Noah doesn't know anything until he finds it out during the story -Shulk is heavily referencing Dunban in FR and DOES know everything but I feel like this is mostly an homage to Dunban specifically, paired with the fact that of course he knows everything, Rex does too. And Rex doesn't feel nearly as similar to the archetype in FR. -Ashera similarly feels like she's only referencing Dunban and also has her entire arc feel unrelated to this archetype entirely. She's not Dunban, she's her own person and only has vague similarities to him like the way she speaks being strangely eloquent for the type of person she is. I think the most accurate comparison to the archetype in 3 who makes the most sense is A, A just feels right in all aspects. Strangely good at everything, knows everything, withholds information from Matthew to let him figure things out on his own, katana wielder, utilises evasion as a mechanic (this is moreso a xenoblade thing), and is also just. really cool. I have to state that again in case it wasn't clear. A's cool as hell.

I have a headcanon that Bionis and Mechonis existed in the upper domain through contact with the Conduit. By the end of XC1, the *new* birthed universe was going to collapse onto the world of XC2 (and saga), and by the end of future redeemed, it’s not just the planet of Lost Jerusalem that’s interlinked, but the whole universe. The heat death that causes the lower domain to perish is an extended interlink in this iteration of the world before eternal recurrence. I think Xenoblade 4 is going to explore more of what resides in the upper domain, and the possible threat is going to be some analogy to angels.
