Monoe and Monoko are creepy when they're in the game and I just noticed something about them.They're black and white like monochromes and their names start with 'Mono'.So I guess Monoe and Monoko are named after monochrome.

My interpretation of the ending is this: (SPOILERS) The ending is actually a happy ending because even when you pinch her awake, madotsuki is still actually asleep. So basically the entire game is one huge dream and all of the worlds and effects are based off of things in madotsuki's real life. for example, the toriningen could be girls that were mean to her in her real life so that's why in her dream world she turned them into ugly monsters, to reflect how they were on the inside. I think that although madotsuki probably suffered some emotional or physical trauma in her life she also had really good memories, which explains the more light hearted parts of the game. After she collects all the effects madotsuki remembers the good parts in her real life and decides it's time to wake up for real. And you know how when you're about to die in a dream you wake up in real life? That's why madotsuki jumped off the balcony at the end, to wake herself up from her dream. I like to think that the girls in her dream, poniko, monoko, monoe, mafurako, and kamakurako are all madotsuki's friends in real life and when she wakes up she lives a normal life and hangs out with them & stuff (with the exception of monoko, who may have died in a car accident)

Yeah, their names are based off of their file names. Monoko's is モノ子 translating to "mono[chome] child" and Monoe's is モノ江 which means "jiang mono". So yes, you're 100% right :^).
