You guys nailed it! We have had the same experience. We cut up the board and were frustrated learning the game but have really enjoyed it. Great stuff!👍

I just bought this game 2.0 version. I also got an etsy play mat to organize the game better. Man this game is a masterpiece for me. Idk if I have a different rule book but it's totally fine for me. Probably the best index in a game I've ever played actually. Theres a mission near the beginning on a train that just blew my mind. This isn't just a game. It is a story. It is a self reflection at times. This will never leave my collection. Great review

There was a really great TV show called "Who's round is it anyway?" - oh no, wait... yeah... "turn"... Note: I agree with you 100%

Agree with absolutely everything. I really stuck it out and tried to not let the board layout nor the rulebook stop me from enjoying one of the most unique games Ive ever played. There are some good how to play videos to sort out the rules here on youtube. Id say this is right in the 8 or 8.5 catagory. If your looking to add even more theme, play with background music, particuarly ones that have a Dark Ambient or similar genre.

Finishing the second campaign tomorrow, probably - 3 dreams left, 32 dreams played. Absolutely love this game. Come at me! (And yeah I did the exact same thing as you and cut the board in half).

I recommend Bohren & der club of gore as background music. Great review as well.

Yay, been waiting for this :) 3 questions: 1. How many dreams are you in? 2. Do you do any houseruling? 3. Im still thinking whether I want to get it. My main concern was whether the translation is clear enough. Some people had complains that translations in the game can be confusing, and so what should have been a hint becomes an unhelpful thing. Have you noticed anything like that?

Yes getting in to the game is hard and frustrating. But if you can make it through all the frustrating stuff. There is a very fun game.

It is! Sad we didn't get time to finish it, but hopefully we'll get back to it soon!

You said You are glad buying miniatures expansion but out of curiosity how much do the minis actually are in game? From what i gathered its just a small fraction of the game and i'm fighting with myself > minis vs additional expansions.
@BoardGamingRamblings3 жыл бұрын
If you don’t mind the tokens, and that means you’d get more content to play, I say go with that! The minis are on the board for whole scenarios for some, for some a shorter time, depending on how much you fight them++. So very different from one to the next, but they are actually used, not like in Tainted Grail!

Hi, did you try the Continuous Dream Mode? What do you think about that? Thanks

We have not tried it, but might do when we hopefully go back to the game :)

Really appreciate this review - very informative, and without the 'battle for hearts and minds about Kickstarter' that has been a part of some other reviews. Re: the board. How did you setup for 3 players? One on each side and one facing the board the 'right way up'? Did that make each person feel like they had an equally good/bad view of the board? It struck me that this board was very much designed for 4 players sat at a table (rather than TTS / Tabletopia) - to make every player feel included, rather than the usual horizontal layout, where one person gets the perfect view and everyone else is compromised. That thinking I'm sure influenced the dreamscape being at the top of the board - rewarding the person with the worst view (upside down) with the closest proximity to the most used part of the board I do understand the solo and 2 player complaints. For them a traditional horizontal layout would have been much more practical. With Covid, the % playing with more than 2 players is currently tiny.

Glad you enjoyed the video, and that the review was helpful for you! As for 3 players, we played two sitting the right way up, and 1 upside down. I’d always want to sit upside down rather than sideways, as reading sideways is horrible for me :P

I will get the game in the second wave, so I have no Idea if I like it or not. Generally speaking, bad rules are a nono for me. I do get it that, like with magic the gathering, with so many card effects you can't cover each and every possibility. But the rulebook itself seems to be bad structure, and that I can't really understand. So I'm not hyped and a little bit wary. Thx for the review and have fun playing games :).

the main problem is the abstract nature of the game due to being a mysterious dream experience. you have tons a terminology for all the different moving pieces which is inherently confusing. slumber tiles, slumber entity tiles, dreamscape, dreamworld, dreamer, flip cards, seal cards, distress etc.

I never back Kickstarter projects. I never suffer from FOMO, and I don't have tons of disposable income. If a KS'd game makes it to retail, I'll consider it then, but if not, oh well. I've found that the stuff that stays KS-only tends to be fiddly crap, bloated to the gills with unnecessary bits & bobs.

I wouldn’t touch this game with a ten foot pole. There’s too many other good games that were released to buy and you can’t have them all. I wanted to like gloomhaven but it was too so figuring what cards I would use and I had more fun setting up and taking down then actually playing. Thanks for listening. I really relate to your honest reviews that are clearly not sponsored behind the scenes. Also. When I asked a major streamer if he had heard of a game so many people have reviewed already he was like what is that. Hmmm. Lost a lot of clout with me even maybe an inscribe. No worries though. Just bought my city and then enjoyed watching your review on it. I totally agreed. I just want to keep playing it. It’s so good. I also ordered renature a new game that dropped a week ago in the us. So I hope it’s good. Thanks for listening. What’s next from you guys. 😀eagerly waiting.

Btw a great accent is so much better than listening to a lot of reviewers that just sound monotone mostly. To the point where the review starts to get cringeworthy

I love this game but cannot believe this board ... what a waste...
