Currently we have a xfinity router that uses the Coax for the internet, what would be a better choice of routers for ever router that ive seen has many downsides like not having great length in connectivity or needing multiple access's points around the house that just boost signal but dosent improve download or upload speeds (Basicly what i have now). sorry if this sounds dumb lol

So that's the set up I currently have and I want to come off the COAX in two rooms straight to ethernet. Is one of these sufficient in each room to achieve this goal? Plain and simple, I want to take my son's gaming computer OFF the Wireless and get him wired to the network directly. Appreciate the feedback!

Hello. Great video. I’m having trouble understanding which is better to get for my situation. I’m in a house with ISP 1g fiber. Coax in the walls. No TV services etc using coax. This service is Powerline, right? The prices on Moca seem slightly lower. Why choose this over Moca?
@H.T.2forever11 ай бұрын
The only advantages I've found with these over the much more popular MoCA adapters are ... 1) They operate on much lower frequencies than MoCA or 5-100 MHz (Wave 1) or 5-200 MHz (Wave 2). So can travel over greater cable lengths than MoCA without as much attenuation. 2) Is really the only coax network system who's signals can co-exist with satellite TV ones on the same coax.

Hello, I have a question: I live in a small apartment behind my landlords larger house. He has a Spectrum cable box, modem, and wifi router towards the front of his house, (There's an additional Spectrum cable box in my bedroom for my TV, on his same account). I use his wifi signal to connect my bedroom laptop to the Internet, but the signal is very weak, even with an extender I purchased and connected. So my question is this: would it be as simple as just splitting the coaxil cable that goes into my cable box and connecting a 3rd party modem for a legitimate strong Internet signal which I can run to my laptop with an Ethernet cable? Thank you.
@JasonsLabVideos Жыл бұрын
With this device, you can't split the Coax cable box and this device on the same line. It will cause interference. :( What i would do is a p2p wireless link if you have line of site tho.

@hayshir79304 күн бұрын
@ I apologize for the confusion. Let me clarify. First, I want to say that I really admire your work. After watching your video, I realized I ordered the wrong item. I ended up with a Gocoax MoCA 2.5 adapter, which was my mistake. From the wall, I have a 3-way splitter; one line goes to the MoCA adapter and then to the switch. My modem is an Arris SB8200, with a cable going to the WAN and another to the LAN on the switch. I feel like I might need another adapter, or maybe my setup is incorrect. Should the MoCA adapter connect to the LAN port on my Protectli, and then use my OPT1 to connect to the switch?

@@hayshir7930 Sure, or you can connect your MoCA adaptor to the switch too.

It's important to consider how to connect the MoCA adapter and cable modem/router in the same room. Both need to have coax plugged into them (in addition to the ethernet from router to MoCA adapter) and some may wonder if they can use the TV/pass-thru output on the MoCA adapter (many have one) or if they should instead use a splitter before the cable that branches to the MoCA adapter and cable modem as shown here. But in this case they need to be sure not only to use a MoCA compatible splitter (up to 1675 MHz) but to test their cable modem speed/signal before and after the splitter to determine if the performance is degraded or impeded. If so they may need to use a directional cable "tap" splitter that allocates more signal to one terminal on the splitter than to the tap side, so the tap can connect to the MoCA adapter and the stronger terminal to the cable modem. Many people have said this is the solution that helped them when their cable modem speed/performance was otherwise compromised by a standard splitter. It's also important to note that all old splitters in the house (inside and outside the walls) should be replaced with ones that support MoCA (up to 1675 MHz).
@SWLinPHX Жыл бұрын
Oh nevermind, this is not MoCA or for lines using cable TV.
@H.T.2forever11 ай бұрын
@SWLinPHX ; Yep ... These adapters operate between 5-200 MHz, which is used by CATV. But they do work sharing coax lines with satellite TV. As I'm currently using a pair of these to feed internet connectivity to a detached garage over a line carrying DIRECTV signals to a receiver located there.

Wow, I’m really surprised this video mentions nothing about the difference between these and MoCA. It would have helped to include just a tiny little tidbit that mentions that if you use cable TV services or have cable Internet in your home, these are useless. These are only good if you have coaxial cable through the house and you absolutely don’t use them for anything (dark coax). That would be a dealbreaker for me in both my homes, and I suspect for many others. Is cable TV not used or popular in Canada?
@JasonsLabVideos11 ай бұрын
In most places not every room is connected. You can buy Mocha units at 5x the cost over these. People who would use these would be putting ethernet where they don't need COAX.
@SWLinPHX11 ай бұрын
@@JasonsLabVideos Not sure why you erased my previous response, but as stated MoCA is nowhere near"5x the cost" and I had asked where you heard that. In fact it is barely more at all. Yours in the video at Amazon currently go for $90/pair while the top MoCA adapters go for $99-120/pair at the links I referenced in my previous deleted response. I know you revised your reply, but also as stated in my response in my condos (and most apartment buildings) the terminal on the building has a separate coax to each unit, then they snake from room to room within each unit via splitters. In the new large two-story home I just bought each line runs from the house's main terminal to each room/jack individually, but they still interface and are connected thru that terminal so the MoCA signal can transmit to other jacks even if only one jack (family room where entertainment center/TV/modem is) is activated by the ISP. Thus you get both ethernet speeds AND multimedia/TV over coax.

It is a big misconception that MoCA adapters would increase the speed ! It will NOT! All the adapter can do is to extend the WiFi/Ether network to an area in the house where there was only coaxial cable connection but no linkages in a specific area. prior to MoCA. Whatever is the speed of the router that is all the speed one can get and MoCA cannot increase speed.
