Ethics play an important role in shaping both public and private relationships. Though the characteristics of ethics in public and private relationships are different but there is no sharp demarcation between the both and they quite often overlap with each other While optimal levels of overlapping leads to harmony at personal and societal level, excessive congruence may lead to stagnation in the society. Some of the examples where we can find such situations arising are - 1. In the patriarchal society, the male person will be the head of the family and influences the decision making process at home. This feature has started influencing the public relationship as well, as in cases where though the women are reserved seats in panchayats, the decision making is mostly influenced by the male member of the family. This is impacting the very own idea of providing such reservation 2. If a person grows up seeing his family/ friends taking and giving bribes, he will normalise taking bribes and corruption. This feature influences his public relationship when he becomes a higher official, and he may support corruption which deters the progress of the country Thus a balance is needed between the both for maintaining peace at personal level and progress at societal level

Example : dignity of labour : person is inclined to become a chef .....that society considers it as a menial job ....family pressurises him not to pursue it and go for what society considers as respectable job .....if he is in congruence and takes up that job(stagnation?)..... If he rebels and pursues his dreams (progress)???? Is this a valid example ??
