The 'Divine emperor' wasn't capable of stopping the fall of the economy nor was he even capable of giving the poor people bread, but his dogs were more important for him. Seeing those events emberasses me as an Ethiopian, Haile Selassie didn't do anything about the poverty in his country at all, maybe some reforms in the 50s and 60s but it didn't really help the economy of the country. Because of him the poverty became worse when a civil war broke out, he sould've listened to the people and could with this avoid the civil war.

What I'll never understand is why so many of these impoverished people continue to pump out children. During a famine or periods of suffering, you shouldn't be seeing new born babies all over the place. It's not only irresponsible, but also cruel, and yet, every time I see a video showing these severely impoverished nations, all I see are new born babies and toddlers left and right. I just do not understand it.
