I am right now converting to and practicing Orthodox Christianity, I'm watching these videos and studying the practice of Orthodoxy, but the closet Orthodox Church is an hour away from me, so please pray for me as I attempt to attend the services.
@RasYefdeyah7 жыл бұрын
Prayers are sent &, again, (just as a note); remember that there are differentiations within parts of Orthodoxy, so choose that which will be a spiritual guide that speaks to you the most? Consider: the Russian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, Indian (Malakara) Orthodox, Syriac (Syrian) Orthodox, Armenian Orthodox, Egyptian (Coptic) Orthodox, & of course the Ethiopian & Eritrean (Tewahedo) Orthodox churches. They are not as different as they seem but, services and cultural context is tailored to their geographical and historical origins. Research in the Oriental Churches, would be a great place to start your journey and study. I appreciate your sincere comment. These type of vids are for people like you! Godspeed

I'm 17, my church is nearly 3 hours away and this very year I did the exact same thing in converting to Orthodoxy. Pray for God to provide a means for travel, and be open-minded to all possible means of getting over there! (I found someone from my town driving over to the city where the church is every Friday, stay all weekend, and return by bus).

Thank You Julie gilbert; I'm writing a bit longer answer for what you asked me. The shortest answer to your question would be 'Yes' but if you need more explanations to what we believe please read history of the church. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is unique in its adherence to the faith and traditions of the prophets and apostles. "You are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone." (Eph. 2:19-20) Ethiopian: refers to the unique traditions and heritage of Ethiopia as the only Christian nation to worship God, before and after the existence of written laws (The Scripture), and to accept the promise of the new Covenant. Orthodox: means straight or true (Ortho) faith (dox). The name was adopted in 325 AD after the Heresy of Arius, who taught that Jesus Christ was created by the Father before the universe, and that He was not equal to the Father. Church scholars from different parts of the world met in Nicaea under Constantine I and declared the faith of our fathers, which is without blemish. The fathers who met in Nicaea named this faith of our fathers Orthodox (straight or the true faith) to indicate that it is a faith that has not been bent or twisted according to the wits and philosophy of men, but revealed to us by God. "... Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 16:18) It is a faith that is deeply rooted in the teaching of the prophets and the apostles. It is a faith given once to our fathers: "... the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints." (Jude 3) Tewahedo: means made one. It refers to the Incarnation of Christ - the complete union of His divine and human nature without mixture (without one changing the nature of the other) and without separation. The name was adopted in 451 AD after the heresy of Eutyches, and the council of Chalcedon, which declared that Christ has two natures. Bete Christian is the Ethiopian word for Church. "Bete" means house of. So Bete Christian literally means house or worship place of Christians. "Yet in the church I would rather speak five words..." (1Cor. 14:19). But it means more than just a place of worship, or a house of Christians: o Each Christian is also Bete Christian: "When you come together as a church..." (1Cor 11:18) o Bete Christian also refers to the gathering or union of Christians: "Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee and Samaria had peace and were edified." (Acts 9:31) o Bete-Christian also refers to the union of angels and saints in heaven: "But the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all."(Gal. 4:26) "The Jerusalem that is above" is the church in heaven, the union of angels and saints. "But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect..." (Heb. 12:22-23) o It also refers to the union of the faithful on earth and the saints in heaven: "You are the body of Christ, and members individually."(1 Corinthians. 12:27) Characteristics of the Church 1. The Church is One. "There is on body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one of hope of your calling; one Lord, one Faith, one Baptism; one God and Father of all, Who is above all, and through all, and in you all." (Eph. 4:5-6) 2. The Church is Holy. o It is the Ark of Salvation, for all who are in it will be saved. "Walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls." (Jeremiah. 6:16) o It's foundation and the head is Jesus Christ. "Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the Church of God, which he has purchased with His blood." (Acts 20:28) “And He is the head of the Body, the Church...” (Colossians 1:18) o It purifies those who dwell in it. 3. The Church is Universal o Jesus Christ died on the cross for all, so that all who believe in Him and fulfill his will, may be saved. o "God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (John 3:17) o "There is neither Jew, nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male, nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus." (Galatians 3:28) 4. The Church is Apostolic The church is led by bishops and priests, whose line of priesthood succession goes all the way back to the apostles and Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ commissioned the disciples to teach, baptize, and make disciples. Accordingly the disciples appointed disciples (bishops & priests), who in turn appointed others to preserve the direct line of succession to this day. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” Mathew 28:19

to be orthodox you have to accept 2 natures of Christ He was a perfect human and a perfect God in spirit UNITED in ONE
@williamjameslehy13419 жыл бұрын
2paacalipse To be Eastern Orthodox it is indeed required that you accept what you say. But for the Oriental Orthodox churches it is standard to adhere to a monophysite or miaphysite tradition.
@DivineAegis029 жыл бұрын
Jacob Hoss The Oriental Orthodox are not Monphysite like Eutiches, they are Miaphysite- we believe Christ is fully God in His Divine Nature and fully Man in His human Nature and is One person without mingling or confusion. When we speak of One Nature it is referring to "One Nature of the Logos incarnate" as the fathers of the Church taught and was proclaimed in the Council of Ephesus. We do not say"In two Natures" because that term was coined by Nestorian, while "One Nature of the Logos Incarnate" is Orthodox and used by St. Athanasius, Cyril and Ecumenical Council of Ephesus.
@OrthodoxAnswers9 жыл бұрын
Jacob Hoss Monophysitism is heresy, condamned by the Oriental Orthodox Church. The Chalcedonian formulation is OK and Orthodox so is Miaphysitism, thus we signed a common decleration of Christology in 1991 in Constantinopel.
@truthhunter12209 жыл бұрын
+Ness Franklin John 1:14 might help: "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." I beleive the word is divine but became flesh or incarnat which is in Jesus Christ. so he has fully divine nature and full human nature.
@TheBuckmaster7779 жыл бұрын
+DivineAegis02 The "Miaphysites" condemn Eutychian Monophysitism but that does not mean it condemns "Monophystism" (literally "One Nature"). The Fathers used One and Two Natures interchangeably prior to the Council because the use of the philosophical word "Nature" had not been concisely defined within a Christian context but that in no way means the tradition didn't exist without philosophical expression. As for the Council of Ephesus, I see no way in which it proclaims "One Nature", "the two natures being brought together in true union" is what it says. At no point am I aware that the canons speak of "one nature". I have never heard that "in two Natures" was coined by Nestorius, you will need to provide evidence for that, preferably a primary source.

⭐⭐⭐ *JESUS IS COMING VERY VERY VERY SOON* !🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺 The return of Jesus is at hand! JESUS IS THE *ONLY WAY* TO HEAVEN! 📖 John 14:6 says, " Jesus says, 'I AM THE WAY THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES UNTO THE FATHER (in Heaven) BUT BY ME'. *JESUS CHRIST* is the only, true way to Salvation! It’s the _free gift_ of GOD to all those who believe and trust Him! *SALVATION* ! is the redemption of one’s soul from eternal destruction after death of man, on this earth, by the cleansing of the blood, and by the death and power of resurrection of Jesus Christ 📖Acts.4:12 says. *Salvation is found in no one else (except Jesus Christ),* *for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be* saved." How is *_SALVATION_* gifted to man? For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. 📖John 3:3 says, Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Except a man be Born Again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. How can a man be *BORN-AGAIN* ? To be Born-Again in spiritual sense, is to die to our old sinful nature and be born-again in the spirit, to be holy, righteous with a new nature in Christ Jesus. 👉To be born-again, we need to repent & confess our sinful past for a holy future. What is *REPENTANCE* ? 👉 *_REPENTANCE_* ! Everyone born into this world is a Born-sinner. Human nature is a sinful nature. Sin in us has defiled us and has separated us from the Holy GOD! We have to repent for all the unholy, lawless transgressions of God’s commandments done willfully or unknowingly, in order to obtain mercy and grace so that we might not be judged and fall into condemnation, the condemnation of eternal hell. 📖 Acts.3:19 says,..✔️Repent, then, and turn to GOD, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the LORD. What is *CONFESSION* of sins? 👉 *_CONFESSION_* ! The guilt of sin and it’s condemnation is rolled away if one truly regrets his sinful past and confesses them in the presence of Jesus Christ. 📖Romans.10:9 &10 ✔️That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 📖 1 John, 1st chapter & verse 9 says.. ✔️If we confess our sins, He (Jesus Christ) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins(every sin)... The sole purpose of sending Jesus Christ into this world more than 2020 ago is this👇 📖John.3:16-17 says " 👉 *GOD so loved the world* (us) that *He* (Father GOD) gave *His* only begotten Son *to die for us* ( our redemption ), that *whosoever believes in Him* (Jesus) *should not perish* (in hell) but *have everlasting life.* 👉 GOD has not sent His Son to condemn the world (us), but the world (we) through Him (Jesus Christ) might be saved. ⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩⏩ *Dear Bro/Sis* .🙏🏼, You may be of any race, religion or creed. Rich or poor. White or black or brown. You may be the least sinner or the worst sinner on earth. You may leading the worst of immoral life against the principles of the Almighty GOD. God is concerned about your future and not your past. All He asks you is to repent and confess your sins to obtain mercy and have a secured and a blessed hope! 📖 Hebrews.10:17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ *If you say this small prayer with faith* . 👇 “ LORD JESUS, I am a sinner, I have committed so many sins knowingly and unknowingly. Have mercy on me. Please forgive my every sin with your precious, Holy blood shed on the cross to save me. I believe you died on the cross, you were buried and rose again the third day for my justification. I believe you are the Almighty GOD! Accept me as your child. Help me to lead a holy life. Fill my heart with joy, give me heart to seek you. _In Jesus precious name, I ask and believe_ . *Amen* !🙏🏼 ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ 👆 If you have said this prayer, I can assuredly tell you that you are a new creation. You are Born-Again in the spirit through the righteousness of Jesus Christ. 📖 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 👉 *_Be Holy as the LORD your GOD is Holy_* ! ⏩ *FORSAKE SIN* ! 📖Proverbs.28:13 says.. ✔️He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. 👉📖Mark.16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not 📌shall be condemned ⏩Read the Bible 📖⏩Know the Truth⏩Go to a Christ centered Church⏩Be Baptized⏩Be Blessed! ⏩May the Holy Spirit GOD lead you & guide you! 👉 Be prepared for the RAPTURE! @RasYefdeyah Жыл бұрын
Not only in dress which stems from culture, but also in linguistics, cultural practices etc etc. many Ethiopians are also Islamic, so you’re very much correct. These people have crossed the Red Sea to trade, fight, intermarry, politic and so forth for thousands of years.

Why are they wearing black thought they wear white robes
@RasYefdeyah4 жыл бұрын
Those black robes are being worn by priests, various verses from the Bible instruct the congregation/followers to wear white which is followed in attending services, but robes or clothes of many colors and designs are donned by priests, monks/nuns...but more than likely black robes by priests and those high rank (ie. Equivalents to bishops, high priest etc.), in clergy. Black is also worn by the congregation during funerals.

THE WHITE IMAGES DISPLAYED ON THIS VIDEO.... IS SO FAKE.
@RasYefdeyah Жыл бұрын
I’ve noticed. But as time has changed and Ethiopia, became more isolated the images did indeed creep into the Tewahedo Orthodox church. I’m more surprised that people haven’t noticed that while in the oriental Orthodox east (ie. Greek-Antiochian, Melankara-East Indian, orthodox-Armenian, and even the older Russian-Orthodoxy, the images are of much darker hues 🤔🤔🤔. I won’t say why, but its glaring to notice that’s going unspoken about.

@williamjameslehy13417 жыл бұрын
Oh really? The Ethiopian Orthodox Church is one of the two oldest national Christian churches on earth, the other being the Armenian Apostolic Church. Both are well over a thousand years older than whatever Anabaptist innovator your sect descends from. All Orthodox churches, as well as the separated Roman Church, maintain apostolic succession going straight back to Pentecost.
