I would argue the Indian culture was far more influential on Jamaican society than Chinese, also Patricia Chin is half Indian

Wow, really learn a lot about the different ethnic people that had big influences on Jamaican Culture. However, what about the African languages. Yes, watched some body else video and they said the Jamaican languages came from the English, the Spanish, and the French. Honestly, was really shocked when they said the French and not Africa.
@keepitreal888-gnc2 жыл бұрын
Great video! But you left out the Jews. Jamaica once had the third largest Jewish population in the world. I read that in a book called 'Slavery and the Jews'. And the Africans from various tribes and cultures contributed much to Jamaican culture than the few things mentioned in the video. The bamboo rafting was an African idea, even though Errol Flynn capitalized on it. Many of the food like ackee and many other things came from Africa. And I think the pepper pot soup is West African because I see some similarities to dishes in West Africa. Some of the words and proverbs in our language are Africans. Storytelling (Anancy) is also an African thing. Some craftsmanship and architecture also came from Africa, and much more.... The African contribution to the world is stupendous.

The Far Eastern, Desi, Middle Eastern, European, Indigenous, And Mixed Raced populates are the minorities compared to the African decendents.
@markiec8914 Жыл бұрын
A 25% minority of black mixed heritage is a rather considerable minority in my opinion. You've looked at 97% Mitochondrial African descent which is mostly from the female genetic line. This DNA data often confuses people and it doesn't represent the Jamaican population as a whole (autosomal DNA).
