I love that he's so open about how he earns money through youtube. I see a lot of youtubers getting a lot of scorn for earning money on youtube. People should do it for fun they say. Well, youtube takes a lot of time to do it as good as what Etho does, and many others besides. So earning money from it is a good thing, a proper thing. So I never minded people earning money on it. Just seems right imo.

offkeychris The point I was making, I think, was that asking for likes (or at least talking about it in the video) really does work and has clearly been shown to be more effective than actually making quality content. Which is quite sad.

@TCVidz Personally, I don't think it's all that sad. Perhaps it's as simple as this: mentioning the action of "liking" a video servers as a reminder of the concept. What I mean is, as I work my way through each of Etho's episodes I like a few here and there, but I don't like every single one of his videos; not because I don't "like" them, but I just don't think to actually do it. When this point came up in the video I thought "oh yeah, I like his videos, I'm gonna like it". So yeah, I agree with you in that asking for likes really does work, but I don't find anything sad about this one getting more likes, it kinda just makes sense that it did.

I've just gone through all my liked videos and counted how many videos there are from which channels. Yes! The EATS roads are back. I am so glad that you are doing them again since you haven't worked with them for a long time and there is no EATS road in your current one but you seemed to give lots of attention to them un your old LP. In fact, a good deal of your earliest videos are about boats, so it's fitting how the boat ninja is back in his original niche. Etho, It has always amazed me seeing how many people view a video and yet there are rarely anywhere near that number of likes. I look at it like this, you put a tremendous amount of time and effort into what you do for all of us. We obviously love watching you, which is why we all keep coming back. I found Etho when I was building a mob grinder. Which worked and gave me the tnts. And I blew stuff up and it was good. Then I watched more of his stuff and it was good. So I got sick of hearing about stuff that happened 50 episodes ago so I went to the start and watched every single Ethoslab. Took weeks, but it was good. Then he joined Mindcrack and thus I entered the mad worlds of Guude, Pause, D-dubs, DocM, Baj etc etc and it was good. You make a great game better Etho, you earn likes good

You hit the nail directly on the head. What is the point of the Like System? If a KZbinr mentions or puts up a graphic that says "please click the 'like' button if you enjoyed this video" that falls directly into the whole point of the system. On the other hand, someone that has a very large channel and says "the goal of this video is 3000 likes", that is abusing the system because it skews the reason people click the "like" button.

Well, ender pearls are pretty easy to get after you have a farm set up. Even with his slow farm, he gets tons. As for everything else, he's been playing this world pretty faithfully for about 10 months (I checked his earliest video of this world)

The previous video, which has about the same view count, has less than a half of this video's likes, because Etho talked about how it actually does help his channel (without asking for likes). It, unfortunately, works. I wish people just did it out of their own free will. I try to like the videos from my favorite creators the moment I click on the video, just in case I forget. If you don't like that particular video, you can always Unlike later. It's a good habit.
