Hey Etho, as an idea for this series what if you built a modern town? Most of your builds are a more traditional style so a modern town would be a good contrast. I also think you could include some very complex redstone contraptions as part of the "modernness" and this could give you lots of new opportunities :)

Hey Etho! The way protection enchantments work is that before damage is applied, the game calculates a damage modifier based on your protection enchantments. Regular protection enchantments contribute one point to the modifier for each level, and specialized enchants (like blast and projectile) contribute 2 points, but only if the damage source matches the enchantment. Your damage modifier is capped at 20 points, and then the damage you receive is scaled by (1 - damageModifier/25). So, having 4 blast protection 4 enchantments results in a damage modifier of 4*4*2 = 32, which will get clamped to 20. This will still provide the maximum damage reduction when the damage source is an explosion, but it's a bit wasteful because you could use different enchantments to get protection from other damage sources. A quick calculation shows that if you have 3 protection 4 pieces, and one blast protection 4, then your damage modifier when getting hit from an explosion will be 3*4 + 8 = 20, which is the maximum possible. When taking non-explosion damage, you will still have a modifier of 12. One last bit of trivia: If you trigger skeleton traps in chunks that have high local difficulty, there is a small chance that they will spawn skeleton riders with helmets that have two different protection enchantments (or two of the same protection enchantment), and those helmets can drop when the rider dies. These conflicting enchantments actually stack, so it's possible to get really OP helmets in survival minecraft without cheats (e.g., a diamond helmet with effectively protection 8). I have a video about that and a few other things you might find interesting (a completed simon game, some memory storage based on your data stream idea, and some other cool game mechanics). Cheers! One thing to consider, though, is the protection enchants (melee weapon enchants) have a random component that does not exist for the base armor (or damage) value. At least, it did last time I checked (things do change though).

It's good to have you back! :D To those who always complains: this series has been around for a VERY long time, and due to higher standard with high tech builds for example (obviously within the limits of the game). It's the same as shooting yourself in the foot, because it's getting harder to come up with interesting content. Less is more, I rather enjoy a vanilla episode once a month or so and have nice and funny content, rather than nothing. And keep in mind, Etho is no more than human and everyone needs a break sometimes. Enchantments provide a set amount of protection based on an "EPF" value, which is capped at 20. The protection IV enchant provides 4 EPF, where as the specialized variants provide 8 EPF (for the type of damage they block). Therefor, 3 Prot IV pieces with 1 Blast Prot IV is just as good as 4 blast prot IV pieces, as the EPF value for explosive damage is 20. Also, based on this the maximum effectiveness of only blast prot enchants is 2 level IV and 1 level II (which gives 4 EPF).

I would rather have 10 crappy, lazy, over done Etho videos then one amazing videos. Hear me out, okay? 10 x 25= 250/60=~4 hours of etho. 1x35= 35. Not even 1 hour. Imagine if etho enjoyed playing for all 4 hours, but struggled to find the topic for that 1 35minute special episode... Wouldn't you rather have etho for 250 minutes rather then only 35 where he is laughing, goofing off, and being etho then not? i didn't literally mean crappy,, long nor short... just 10 every day episodes. You know etho says alot of the time he struggles finding ideas because almost everything has been explored and done already. well i meant something more the lines of mining, exploring, talking, catching up with us viewers. Casual episodes. Just something if anything to enjoy. Not those long thought out ones that take days of editing, weeks of recording, and months worth of brainstorming for. Never said that they did equate to such things. just used 25 as that is what etho typically splits recordings into when recording other series either solo or with friends and 35 for lp videos.

I actually can't deside, on one side I love Ethos top notch content he just makes some of the best vids on YT especially in his Secion in my opinion. So taking alot of time to make 1 epic vid a week, month, year... :) result in wonderfull content. But on the other side I just really like Etho doesn't really matter what he does. I would watch everything he uploads (although it would be of a lesser quality if he would strat "cranking" it out) :) I guess streaming would be ideal for this so he would stream while mining, building, other games, answering questions... you know what I mean. (and this idea is not original by any way shaper or form but I just really like to watch Etho)

It's been so long, too long, since I've watched an Etho episode. I can't describe how happy the nostalgia makes me feel. I'm a person who like to watch things chronologically, which mean that if I fall behind I watch all the old episodes before watching one new one. Unfortunately, school and work have eaten up my schedule, not allowing me time to catch up. That led me to not watching ANY episodes even if I wanted to. FiNALLY! After watching the series starting from 104 I am finally all caught up! What a great series. I was worried I wouldn't make it through, because there are SOOO many. But, I'm glad I did. Watching the series with my kids has been great. Time to watch the modded series while I wait for new episodes! I for one would be fine if Etho started a new world. Hey Etho, a fun project could be creating a mob switch! Some people on the Scicraft server have done it. It takes away a little bit of the fun from survival (in my opinion) but it is a very handy tool, and a neat project that involves persistent chunks, and chunk loading. You can turn them on, for when you want to have fun with mobs, or off, when you want a break from mobs, like when you are building a big project. If you like this idea, check out gnembon's channel!

Hey, does anyone remember that PvP game Etho played a while back, like a few years I think, where it was two teams and they played on mirrored maps with a gap in the middle, where they would be making tnt cannons to hit players on the other side? Etho have you tried using multiple tnt blocks to launch mobs including yourself? I remember in an old JL2579 video that the all the tnt did the same damage to health as one block of tnt. I remember iron golems were launched thousands of meters in the air and they survived.
