Minecraft survival. In this episode we continue the revamping plan by updating some more of the nether tunnels and also the guardian farm. Nether trees are needed, so we attempt to make a redstoneless farm to auto harvest them.

As for the villager: I feel like it's a legacy villager at this point. You didn't cheat it into the world; it existed as such *in* the world before Mojang changed how trading works. As such, I see no problems with using him (as well as other villagers like him) - it just shows how much time you've spent in the world! Great stuff as always BTW. I've watched your videos for a long time now, and if anything, they've been improving. Always puts a smile on my face to see a new Etho video in my feed :)

I disagree. There are limitations for a reason, sure there is nothing stopping you from cheating but at that point why not just spawn it in? If you choose to forgo the balance you might as well just play in creative. That being said I don't mind him using the redstone trade if he has a big project to do and has to mine for hours on end, I just want to caution against cheating because it's these little steps that lead to the bigger ones.

Redstone's a thing that can be farmed, it's basically free. Using the villager won't be much different. Emerald farms are a thing but kind of exploiting a quirk in the code for an endless raid, though you can amass large quantities of emeralds through regular trading.

I'm 24 now, about to finish my masters degree in physics and my love for Ergo's content hasn't faded one bit, I still come every time there's a new video, no matter how busy I am. I really like the quartz trade, It's really important that there should be a renewable/farmable source of any material. Why? Because on big multiplayer worlds or just really old worlds, all of the naturally spawned ores and resources are eaten up very quickly., and travelling thousands of blocks just to get a few resources is no fun. The way to balance it is just to make the difficulty of setting up a farm or rarity of the drop from trades proportional to how scarce or valuable the resource is naturally.

The reason it's OP is if you connect a gold farm to it you'll have basically unlimited items. Imagine connecting the Iron/Gold nether farm to it and pumping gold into a Piglin farm that was able to keep up with the several stacks of items, and it was AFK able. I think the biggest reason Piglin trading is OP is it'd AFK-able. Now an interesting mechanic IMO is if Piglins loved gold but we're corrupted by it, say they make a trade and then turn into a zombie or have a chance of turning into a zombie, that would balance it. It'd make a bunch of people mad, but would be really cool at the same time. Also a way to convert zombies back into Piglins with a weakness potion and a normal apple would be a fun mechanic. Edit: also I believe he means filter out wither skeletons from general mobs for the farm so you only get either skeletons and then the rest go to a kill chamber.

The bartering mostly is to fill out what you can’t get in the nether any other way, it’s why they added gold in the nether, you can get through a large chunk of the tech tree starting in the nether, and now it’s super easy to get out of the nether with bartering alone, (mine gold, barter for obsidian and fire charge) you can’t get string or iron in the nether without bartering ad it is right now, I think getting rid of leather from the list makes sense because you get that from hoglins anyways.

that would be super amazing! to add on to that maybe make each wall represent 100-150ish episodes give or take and take the peaks of those parts of the series. then you could have a wall specifically for the first 100 (what is it, 104, 105?) episodes from the first world. this would be so cool and would be an amazing nostalgic history wall. =D

I see what Mojang is doing with the piglin trading. They want it to be possible to live in the neater without going to the overworld for anything. So it would make sense from that view that the piglins would have string and water bottles, because there is no spiders or water in the nether. With that in mind, dropping the glow stone and magma cream makes sence becuse you can get that exclusively in the nether. The leather seems pointless, since the hogglins drop leather, but I think that it makes sense that they would trade it because piglins hunt hogglins, and leather would be something they have on hand. But this all feels like excuses. I feel like this trading is a patch for what Mojang was intending, but couldn't manage to do in time. They wanted you to be able to live in the nether, so they gave the nether stone and wood to make tools. They added magma cube spawners for fire resistance farms. They made Hogglins for food, striders for travel, respawn anchors to replace beds, and lodestones to find the way. But it's not complete. The nether still doesn't have redstone or regular slime, so most conventional farms are basically impossible, made only harder by the lack of water. And from that idea, I feel like piglin trading was added in last to try to catch all the points they didn't reach, like string, potion bottles, and iron. But this still doesn't feel right. If you're living in the nether without the overworld, you are living in a world without redstone. So the piglin trading becomes slower, possably too slow to even make it work. I don't like Piglin or villager trading. They both seem like late game things, that are possable to abuse early on.

The ender pearl trade makes finding/getting to the end in the really early stages of the game super easy. Before you had to get lucky and find/kill enough endermen for the eyes to then find and populate the portal. Now you trade a few gold bars and have more pearls than you know what to do with.
