I hope it's just some of his viewers trolling him with that critique, I never understood that notion _at all._ I mean we're not talking cobblestone houses here, most of his gadgets and builds are pretty nifty and oftentimes without equal, because Ergo just likes to invent stuff as he goes along. Which might be another reason that makes such a build perfect for him: What does he do if a new block or mechanic comes out? He's tampering with it, "What are it's properties?" etc. I know some guys that always carry ice in their enderchests, because he basically taught them to use it for water sources, or how did he find out that a chorus fruit can teleport you to the roof of the Nether? He even built a freaking piston-door that *only* opens if you'd hold a carrot in your hand, because a pig in a Minecart underground would sense it and trigger the switch! To me, his videos exude so much curiosity and playfulness - I mean if there'd be a curator or a gatekeeper in the museum of Minecraft mysteries, it definetly should be the guy that smells like Beef :)

You should try having a cleaner backdrop for your devices, especially the timer for example. Picking similar colors for the background makes it hard to notice, while having a "clean" stage, presumably a set-back white wall made out of quartz could help it stand out, drawing the eye towards the time measurement. It could also help frame it in if you'd consider keeping the walls flatter. Bumpiness smudges colors at times too.

Just a couple of thoughts on the room: you should label it in some way whether it’s with “block breaking” or like pixel art of a block with the cracking animation or something because I feel like this lab is going to get to the point where it’s easy to get lost in especially for people exploring a world download, also I like the note blocks going off to signal the different effects but I think the conduit should have a different instrument like a xylophone or something more aquatic or tropical sounding (I’m not sure about this one just something I thought of while watching) anyway I love your videos and keep up the great work.

the last time i saw an etho video was the ep 550 world tour the day of its release, havent kept up since then but i am happy to find out i have like 18 hours of content to catchup on in the solo world. im so appreciative of ethos patience and determination with this series its so unique to me. i love vanilla minecraft but i find it to get boring after a while and every time i play modded it just kinda feels lesser than when i achieve something great due to the mods having an affect on so much in the world. since watching ep 551 i have made a new hardcore survival world and though ill probably die and wipe any day now im happy to say etho inspired me to come back and open minecraft again after 3 years in only a single episode that was more a talk of future plans than it was actually building. Thankyou Etho.

This seems like a classic case of "new blocks are best blocks." Seems like he's trying to cram as many of the 1.16 blocks in one build as possible.
@Klffsj4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and he was just talking about how he tends to do that during the world tour. For what it's worth, black is a nuetral color, and blackstone is dark enough to give a nice contrast, so it'll probably get used a lot over the next several years. Generally, Etho's been making more use of shades of red, orange, and brown lately as well-granted, there's a lot of blocks with those colors. I'd think that an area focused on block breaking and mining might use some more traditional blocks (with other complimentary blocks), but I appreciate the more unique pallet.

@@Klffsj i agree, this build felt nether themed rather than old-school mining themed. but i guess his man-cave with its grass and stone is already old-school minecrafty so this is different on prupose than things from before

I absolutely love this project Etho ! I don't see it as too big for you to chew cause it's something you'll work on whenever you'll feel like it. It sounds very refreshing. Discovering or re-discovering game mechanics seems like a great way to get you and people watching to think outside the box and maybe stumble upon some unexploited aspects of the game. It's as if after 10 years as a self-taught minecrafter you had decided "hey let's build a minecraft school and learn along the way". It's awesome Plus this will help even out the never ending debate about whether we want to see some redstone wiring or building or doodling. Seems like a good mix!

@@Myne1001 That's a somewhat tricky and highly technical exploit that was fixed in 1.13 already. Hey Etho, just a quick tip or reminder for implementing mining while riding in the block breaking exhibit: Pigs can be saddled up (a feature I always forget about) and can fit in a much smaller space than horses. You could probably hook up a system to dispense a pig when you need it, instead of having to rely on a horse.

you should add some sort of history behind block-breaking, for example when you broke wooden slabs with picks instead of an ax.
