Today we relax a bit and just take care of a few improvement projects. The Ender network gets added to. The Wither Skeleton farm gets somewhat automated. Our main tree farm gets a much needed storage system. We discover Hoverboards! Then we finish things off with my first Kelp farm.

For sounds on the skulk sensor, why not take the noteblock tone mechanic? Placing the sensor on smooth stone, glass, wool, slime tunes it to a particular sound event like footsteps, damage, pistons, trapdoors, water flowing, etc. This would reduce complexity and be suitable for world generation if smooth stone and skulk sensor generate together for footstep vibration
@EthosLab
@EthosLab 3 жыл бұрын
That would work fine if you have a list of all the sounds available. However, with 100's of sounds in the game it would be near impossible to memorize them all. I feel this system for note blocks is also quite confusing and could use some reworking. I often have to check a wiki page to match them properly.

@sdalt14 3 жыл бұрын
@@EthosLab I agree with the confusion related to noteblocks. However I imagine having a block orientation solution could also provide more redstone functionality with block swappers changing the behaviour of the skulk sensor in a contraption instead of needing to farm multiple sensors. I am also assuming there is a risk the skulk sensor will be implemented as a non movable block entity if NBT data is added. Ilmango would get 100 more MBE episode ideas but at what cost haha

Etho, the floating striders are from when you were running the snapshotsh; there was a bug that made all striders generated then have a tag that made them immune to gravity. Since they didn't die, they kept the tag, but new striders should act like normal. Make sure you keep those striders safe for whatever you have planned!

You should watch simplysarc’s video about it. He says it would have so many uses if it wasn’t just an analog decoder, but that concept could be furthered, and you could “feed” a skulk sensor. It’s then tied to the next sound it hears, and only reacts to it. This includes eating, witch sounds, tnt blasts, and so many more. You can add more sounds onto what it hears. It’d be very simple, but make redstone so much better

Hey Etho, I saw you playing Among Us with the other hermits on Grians channel the other day and you seemed to enjoy the game and the interaction with the others a lot. And it was fun to watch, too. I know that you prefer to upload quality content on your main channel and recordings like Among us wouldn´t fit the rest of your content. But have you considered making a second channel für content like this, where you don´t put a lot of afford into creation and cutting? I would love to watch you casually play a game you enjoy from time to time. Thanks for uploading regularly and keep up the good work :)

Hey Etho! I'm curious as to why this season of Hermitcraft is the one you seem to be the most dedicated to. While you've joined previous seasons of Hermitcraft, you seem to have dropped it after a short while, whereas here you have plans to stick with the server for much longer. Not complaining, I do really love the Hermitcraft content. For me it is a great way to watch you play in a new world, which many have asked about before, without replacing the current singleplayer LP world. Keep up the great work!

You've talked recently about why you have rarely done multiplayer/server series and I just want to thank you for all the content you've already made in this Hermitcraft season. I usually watch youtube videos sped up to give me more time to watch everything I want to, but your added effort to make those noteblock songs throughout each episode is just too nice to just let them play by at a speed they were not intended to be listened to. Thanks for all your hard work and for keeping that series going as long as you have. I'm sure most of your viewers also appreciate seeing you interact with others.

Would also be better to put the new mega project on hold and do it in the new mountains/caverns instead of an area that looks almost exactly like the actual amplified base... right now there is only one thing to rebuild, there are plenty of other projects around to last us until then such as the bastion base... especially if he un-abandons at least one of the other unfinished bases... the stronghold base, the amplified base, the slab city, the micro base he can't find, the underwater base...

Can I just say how much I loved the detail of when he was making the chest sorting system for the tree farm how he included the acacia and then later included him changing his mind to spruce. It adds character letting us know he doesn't always know what works. He has to change it sometimes. Small detail but stood out to me and I thought was really cool. Also not to mention his awesome "monologue" over the building montage. Very awesome Etho, love your videos more and more every episode!

The reason your treefarm is weird like that is because saplings now prevent trees from growing (as if there is a dirt block next to it). but only if the sapling is on either the north or west side of the tree. When you grow the other tree, the sapling changes into a log. Logs do not prevent the tree from growing.

the problem with the sound sensor is it's a plant, I don't know if you've ever tried to train a plant to listen to specific commands but they aren't great at following orders. plants are very simple, they're either yes or no, if you're lucky sometimes you'll even get a maybe, I just don't see them being programmable without some sort of mod.

I like the idea with the sculk sensor filters, I think a good way to do it would be to right click them to set them into listening mode like you said, and in that mode they will mimic the sound they hear, maybe in a bit of a distorted way, similar to how the parrots mimic sounds of hostile mobs around them. It will remember the sound once you've logged it in, and if you mine the block and place it back down it plays the sound again.

Since striders have a collision box like shulkers or boats that you can walk on you could make a bridge somewhere using them, would be fun. For the kelp farm: The mural is divided into 3 sections, so I think it'd work if you used pillars to divide the kelp farm into 3 sections. That would probably be enough detail. I think the plainness of the kelp farm contrasts well with the high detail of the mural. So lower detail is better for the kelp farm. Love the video :) Edit: for the next 8 years, people will be using the "Etho Sculk Clock" Edit2: Love the sculk sensor idea. You could think of it as if you're training the Sculk to respond to a specific sound. So, it would hear the sound and react to it, and then you could feed it as a reward. (Classical Conditioning)

Hi Etho, I have had the raining underground problem in my single player world before. the world is about 4 years old. After one update, I am not sure which, whenever it would rain the rain would fall underground and through the roof, it made the whole house seem damp and cold, I hated it. O also noticed that it was only in certain areas around my base and that the same areas where not showing up on maps, the map would just show a gray area like flat stone. I was able to fix both issues by building a one block thick roof over the entire effected area at a high altitude, then breaking the roof again, as I built and broke the areas they showed up on the map again and it no longer rained underground on that blocks coordinate. It was a labour intensive course of action but solved the problem and now my base feels dry and comfortable again so it was definitely worth it. It could be worth a test for you.

Hey Etho, I have a few thoughts with regards to cave update. First off it might make sense to do something similar to what you did with the previous generation change where you delete the parts of the world that you haven't built in at all so you have easier access to the new stuff. Another thing with the skulk sensor filter idea, I think they could do something similar to how noteblocks work where different blocks under them cause different filters this could act partly as a limitation since they may just add sound categories rather than every individual sound. Regardless I'm excited to see what you do with the new stuff when it comes out. PS. The kelp farm wall definitly needs some adjustments perhaps a pattern of some sort in the glass itself?

I have a guess about the strider glitch. It's possible that because your world is so old, the generation changed so much and maybe the striders are somehow using blocks that would have been there if they were generated in 1.16. That one guy who was slowly going up looked like what happens when they enter one of the random lavafalls, they just start swimming up. This might also explain why you can see rain underground, the rain thinks that there aren't blocks above you, so it renders itself. I might be wrong, but that's the only thing I can think of. Keep up the great work! Edit: After watching more of your experimentation, I don't really know what's going on. One guy hit the ground and took fall damage but was still floaty, which makes no sense. It could be something with their gravity being weird when they leave lava, as they float, but it's just so strange.
@jeffwillsea6757
@jeffwillsea6757 3 жыл бұрын
The floaty thing has to do with the fact that those striders were spawned in a snapshot where gravity wasn't working properly for them. If he goes to new chunks and get "fresh" striders, they will behave properly.

You can just hold down shift+w+right click and the wall building may as well be automated. It helps that I tend to watch/listen to things in the background, so the game being on a loop for a couple minutes isnt a big deal for me. I imagine if you're playing the game without a time filler, the more active approach is probably preferred.

Hey Etho, i dont know if its common knowledge or not but ive been farming wither roses for a while manually and i’ve found one of the best ways to get several stacks of roses quickly. So you need to grab a bunch of chicken eggs in shulkers, spam them into a small box, with a wither built inside and then finish the wither. His spawning explosion kills all the chickens and each of them spawn a rose. Then you can bait the wither away from the loot with another chicken and collect the roses. Doing this with about 3 shulkers of eggs nets around 3-4 stacks of roses. This is sure not a good wither rose farm but I’ve found its pretty good to get enough roses. Anyway i hope this is helpful!
