5 years late, but this is the only video I've found about reading tarot at fairs and events. Thank you!

I Have two sand timers one is 3O mins and the other 15 mins they are colourful and not a distraction but help to keep any eye on the time when the fifteen mins is at the end I know to start to do the summary so that wraps up around 20 mins. Great video very useful tips
@Ethony3 жыл бұрын
That's a great idea that way the timer doesn't disturb anyone and it's not distracting for you or the client!
@neliaferreira99832 жыл бұрын
And the sand timer looks beautiful too! Classy, silent and timeless! Now I have to get that as well!!

Thanks for this video. I learned a lot of these tips the hard way 😢 I wish I found this sooner. Definitely the researching the event traffic before booking, having a timer, a list for ppl.

Yes! Yes! Everything you said. It's also a great idea to bring a time sheet where people can sign up for readings. At my first fair as a reader, I wasn't prepared and people were annoyed they couldn't secure a spot. Luckily, my quick-thinking assistant found some paper and started taking names. I always bring a time sheet now... even if the fair isn't busy, it's still helpful for those moments or mini-rushes when 3 or 4 people do show up at once.

Timesheets are a fantastic idea, many of the people I worked with at fairs did this. I totally forgot to add it :)

I have been uncomfortable giving important messages if the ppl are inebriated bc they won’t remember. I think having them take notes on the back of my business cards helps.

Great tips! I take crystals, and sprays to events too, and lots of water to stay hydrated. I find that after I need to ground after all the high ones and usually do so by eating something starchy or comfort food and listening to some hard rock / brings me back to earth.

@ethony, I learned about you just yesterday via "tarotworks (also known as Lost Star Tarot)" on Instagram. I still need to check out your Tarot Summer School. This was a great video. I fully agree with everything you said in it, and although you first blogged about this in 2010, this is information that does not get old. I give Readings at public venues, from time to time, and I cannot over-recommend arriving early, especially to get one's choice of tables! This is a wonderful video, and I look forward to watching it, from time to time, just to make sure I have all my bases covered.
@Ethony7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for stopping by, yes if you can score a good table it helps for sure :) some are assigned but it is a good point to make sure people ask their organisers if they can pick their own table or not. Worth getting to a venue early for that.

My pleasure, @Ethony, and thank you for your great videos. I have a feeling I shall watch your videos as I do @Two Spirit's, all of them and starting with the very first one. Actually, in the last few years, there has only been one public venue where a table was assigned to me; but all the others, I had the option of choosing the one I wanted.

Great tips for reading at events, fairs and markets. I have actually been considering participating in these events. I will definitely apply these tips for when I do take part in events, fairs and markets. Passing out from dehydration is never fun and I always try to make sure I have a water bottle on me to ensure I do stay hydrated.

hello johnny, how does that work for you ? I have thought about doing that. but I wasn't sure how well it would work out. I do light worker orcale readings. plus im a medium. so I do both readings. but how does that work for you ? is it a great outcome. or what do you suggest ?

I'm so glad I came across this video as I'm thinking of doing my first festival in about 3 weeks. How many cards do you suggest for a 15-minute reading? I was initially thinking 3.
@Ethony Жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, 3 cards is great for 15 min!

I got a great tip from "eat pray love" for responding to unsolicited advice. After the 10,000 th person told her she needed a man and there was something wrong with a woman traveling alone, she very graciously replied, "I know a lot of petiole who would agree with you," (or who feel the same way, etc. I thought it was brilliant.

I don't meant to but when I say something I have one of those days do get into trouble. I'm Gemini too. When I say something I do get honest/blunt/frank about the situation and that does get me into trouble.

These are great tips. Watching this reminded me of the events I have done in the past, and encouraged me to start doing them again. I have a question about the private events. That is something I'm interested in offering. Do you have any recommendations for the details of drawing up the agreement, or perhaps references I can refer to for doing that? I have not done that before so details to include or tips would be helpful.
@Ethony7 жыл бұрын
Artist agreements can be a good place to start. I have a background in contracts with my HR work so I just used the samples as a place to start - www.artpact.com/Contracts

There might be local government by-laws. Ring your local council or whatever they are called where you live. Some places can issue busking permits :)
