Etho MindCrack SMP - Episode 108: Second Floor

Today we try to get the layout for the second floor of EthoCorp figured out. We also test out the auto-brew system, and work at fixing the outer wall.

I'm finally all caught up with your MindCrack series eps now, after behind being by about 5/6 eps and watching a few last night and most of the rest of them there today! :P I have to say that I'm very jealous of how great your EthoCorp shop/base structure is looking now, both on the inside and out! :o Really liking all the nice little touches around the place, such as hiding some lights under carpets, the plant pots, the Zisteau sales 'person' at the desk, etc xD

Hey Etho, Those spaces by the torches could be white sofas (stairs around all the edges) and hide the lighting under it... I think that would look nicer than carpet. Cyan/White carpet would make a nice (and fitting) patterned rug for the floor. Loving this build so much! :)

Etho, with your problem because of cyan wool over the door, if it's the unregularity that bothers you, you can just add another cyan wool block to the left and it will be symmetrical. It will also not be seen from above since there is a cyan hardened clay pillar on top. Great bid. Finally got the last wall done but you need to add the prices for the potions! Keep up the great work

As I've said many, many times; Etho you are such a genius! I love the auto-brewer, I'm not afraid to admit that I suck at redstone & could never, ever figure out how to get something that complex to work right. :( You make it all look so simple!, even though I know it isn't. It does. And he explained why 2 or 3 episodes ago. The color or stain is just put on top of the texture of hardened clay which is red. Cyan is a mix of blue and green. Add red to that and you get grey.

Etho 3 Suggestions, please consider. 1. Have a Cat on the desk next to Zisteau (keeps the Creepers from following in) 2. Have an Iron Golem as a bulky assistant (keeps zombies, skeletons and spiders from following customers in) 3. For under the entrance, just put that last cyan wool block on the ceiling. You won't be able to see it on the second floor because it'd be covered. If you do that, you could like the floor in front of the door with cyan wool too - the blue would add more color to the entrance. I'm looking at the entrance from your point of view at 20:10 As for lighting on second, when you put a roof on it maybe use lamps or glow stone to make a pattern in the ceiling.

In those areas you went around where you said the light level was low, I think you need to put a light or two in some of those places and hide it under a carpet layer, maybe even add some more carpet next to it just so that it doesn't look like one random piece of carpet over the light itself haha! As for the second floor, it will look great once you stick some carpet on the floor for that, seeing as that is also the ceiling of the first floor too :P Awesome sword enchantment too btw :o lucky!

Etho for the lighting and floor of the building you have an idea that you have carpet. The first floor needs more light and so does the second way not make the ligh in the roof of the first floor and the floor of the second and the cover the light on the second floor. -a loyal follower. I love the videos btw.

Etho, if you think torches look so bad (I agree), put torches over a item frame with a wooden half slab in it, then it looks like the torch is being held in place by the slab. Keep going with your cool work, Sebastian

You could automate loading the glass bottles by putting a chest-hopper-dropper setup over the water source, and connecting the dropper to the clock circuit.

ETHO!!! Make a horse stable with hay bales for everyone to keep their "trophy horses" so that they can breed as many horses as they want while keeping their main horses safe. I think its a great idea and would be a great addition both aesthetically and physically for everyone. Please, put it next to your race track. Great video, your the only minecrafter I thoroughly enjoy watching. Keep up the amazing work. Show your face.

Etho, A suggestion about the cyan wool under the upstairs chests. If you stand by Zisteau and look at the door you could just replace the cyan block on the far left with the wool and get a nice highlight along the whole edge. Upstairs wouldn't be affected as it would be under the wall by the chests. Also I thought perhaps you could make use of the spaces between the walls to go to an underground excess storage, only accessible through the upstairs. So might be less known about.

In between the two skylights put some redstone lamps that randomly turn on and off using chickens. It will brighten up the second floor nicely.

check that all of the pistons are each set to the same amount of time before it opens. set each one to the same amount of ticks to get it to open all at once, otherwise it is dependent on the opening of the piston before it, which is why it's opening in the spiral.

In the basement you should have the nether wart farm have the walls nether rack, but have the nether rack curved and smoothed out with maybe some lava coming out of the it. It would look like a science laboratory.

I was thinking with the door, after you put the cyan wool in on the second floor; You could just replace that last clay block with a cyan block. It looks good as a highlight anyway. That and the Cyan would be under a piece of clay upstairs. You'd never see it there.

i had a year of no internet and lots of minecraft. its one of the many things i came up with during that time.

12 minutes 45 seconds for the warts, but since it clocks over an additional 2 spots (sugar, redstone) you go up to 14 minutes 5 seconds for the completion, still, quite handy to have it automate a stack of potions in under 15 minutes! ^^

Ethocorp should be a large complex with many buildings for different purposes and have one big HQ tower/building in the centre. you than can surround the complex with a wall to prevent intruders. I think it will be awesome with the building style you have.

I think you should add a supermarket at spawn. The community could buy sell and trade. The shops around spawn could put their products in one convenient location. They could have their own isle with their name and products on it. They could have their own cash register for people to pay. I think it would make the server more interesting. Like the comment!!

You put your cursor on the items you want into your hotbar, and then you press the number key on your keyboard for which slot in your hotbar you want the item to go into. Hope this helped

put the item frames on the bottom row and take out the cyan wool since you can barely see it behind the frames anyway. That way the upstairs still looks nice and the downstairs is back to normal

With your lighting problem, maybe put lamps or glowstone in the squares you have in the ceiling on the first floor, and similar on the second floor, some form of lighting in the ceiling.

you could make a hopper behind the counter(so you dont see it) and if you throw a cobble in it a piston door will open were you can have your storage chests etc!

Etho! Hove you considered lava for a bit of lighting for the lab? There may not be enough room, but the animation and the sound will probably fit pretty well with the lab being a potion building.
