For compacting ores, the Compacter is basically made for the purpose. it can hold gravel, sand and dust forms of all ores which simplifies the process greatly once you start automatically sieving gravel, sand and dust.

Etho. Magmatic Dynamo. Use it. Auto-pump cobble from the cobble generator into a few crucibles sitting over lava, then out from there to a magmatic dynamo. Enough power for your needs for quite a while.

For checking if mobs can spawn you can use the "F7" key. Yellow "X's" mean they can spawn there at night and red "X's" means mobs can spawn there anytime. I'm also curious how long it will be until Etho gets an AE system up and running for the world. I've said this a few times now but they need to read through the Achievement Book to see the progression for the modpack so they can plan ahead for challenges later down the road. "I feel so alone...." LOL

Like everyone else said, use F7. If you don't see any "x" marks on the ground no mobs can spawn there. If there is a yellow "x" mobs, can spawn there during the night and if there is a red "x", mobs can spawn regardless of the time of day.

And for power, a simple MFR grinder with a few reactant dynamos gives them a plethora of items and power, upgrade the dynamos as well to produce double, for a cheap price. ( fully self-sufficient as well, creeper gunpowder and mob essence is both gotten from the grinder. ) Also, more loot bags.

Etho you don't need to break up the Iron gravel into the dust, you can just put the gravel into the smeltery and it will work the same.

Etho, you should make a cobble gen hooked up to an autonomous activator placing the cobble and another autonomous activator hammering it down and a vacuum hopper sucking up the items, you could keep repeating the layout till it auto breaks it to dust or gravel depending on what you prefer ;)

Transfer nodes have their uses and are generally a very neat/cool system to work with, but in this circumstance they're a terrible choice of pipe system. They're expensive, and the fluid ones in particular are likely to end up with large amounts of material wasted in a smeltery. They're also very unintuitive and the chances of Beef or Pause having the time to fully learn their mechanics are pretty slim. By comparison, TE ducts and Ender IO conduits are very simple to understand, offer more functionality and would be cheaper for the things you're doing currently in this world. If you want to use nodes anyway for reasons of aesthetics or personal preference then make sure you understand how to use the wrench with them and all the tricks with filtering and different pipe types - there's a lot of very clever and satisfying functionality there, but unfortunately pretty much every actual use case is covered better by an alternative.

Hey etho instead of the auto crafter use an auto packager it crafts things that can be crafted in a 2x2 from 1 inventory to another. Then you don't need to set up every single crafting recipe

Anyone else playing along? This modpack is insane but a lot of fun! The mob farm is passable but would be much less upkeep if they put some spikes on the floor to knock the mobs' health down to one-hit-kill. There are so many handy things in Ex Compressum: Compressed hammers will break compressed blocks which doesn't seem like much but if it's coupled with a builder's wand (like a shovel but on the diagonal - stone, iron, diamond for the head) placement is so much faster. Heavy sieves will sift compressed gravel/sand/dust. (there's a heavy auto-sieve too). There's even a wand that assembles and places gravel/sand ore blocks (crafts like a crafting-table-hammer with a diamond tip). A dolly would be able to move a lot of the filled items (chests, etc) all at once, so the chest with all the ore bits could be moved over near the smelter. Moving the barrels from beside the mob farm would help with ease of movement. Are they still trying to make dirt? Ex Compressum also adds in wood chippings if a wood block is hammered; which are compostable. If they still have oodles of string, there are also rope ladders in the modpack. As long as you have enough, they'll stretch down as far as they can. Sort of like water but you can stop on them. (be careful, you can walk through them from the back)

Perhaps for making your ores an auto-compressor would work better! It doesn't require a recipe and has a sizable output. Also, you can use a stick or your yeta wrench you got last episode to adjust your pipes to reduce crossover. There is also a special crossover pipe for those situations where the wrench/stick configurations still wont suit your needs. Thank you for the videos Ethos!

Hey etho first sieve dirt to get grass seeds so you can put them on grass and make a pasture so you can spawn animals and do a lot of stuff with that. next make a auto cobble to ores gen. i think you've already been trying but here's how i did it:take the cobble out of the infinite cobble gen automatically then put that cobble onto the ground and use autonomous activator to break it with a hammer... get the hammer with the auto craft block...then put the gravel sand or dust into an auto sieve or a normal sieve with autonomous activator right click. then auto crafter(s) again to make it ingots go through the smeltery. thank you for reading this absurdly long comment and like it so etho can see it. btw im really sick of your lack of ores PLEASE fix it with the above. redstone 4 lyfe!

Etho, here is a way to get more redstone using bloodthrees : 1. sift dirt until you find an ancient spore 2. place the spore on some dirt to get mycellium 3. place wood barrels next to the mycellium with water to get witch water 4. put sand in the witch water to get soul sand (you can automate all that with some pipes) 5. sift soulsand untill you get a blood sapling 6. get some lava in a stone barrel, put a piece of redstone in it to get netherrack 8. plant the blood saplings on the bottom of the netherrack (this tree grows upside down and is quite tall, so plant it about 20 blocks above the ground) 9. cut the three with vein miner (do you know you have vein miner ? :p) 10. when the leaves despawn, they give redstone. you should get around 10 redstone/three. 11. enjoy the restone :D

I think it would be smart to upgrade the generators with double layer capacitors (it then gives 40rf/t instead of 20rf/t). Putting them all in one place filling up some capacitor banks or energy cells for a buffer. Then lay power conduits to the machines needing them. Anyway, great fun watching you three, keep it up :)

Auto Compressor in place of the auto crafter you just taught Pause how to use is a great idea. It will 2x2 and 3x3 all the things for you, no recipe limitations. Also has a decently large internal inventory and can be set to int or ext the outputs too.

with the minicio essence you can get eventually get zivicio essence which can be used for the ultimate furnace(smelts a stack of something in 1-2s, it also is very fuel efficient. haven't tested how many items it can smelt per coal but for me it once did 11 stacks of sand with like a half coals worth) or the armor ( that allows flight without energy usage)

Use the "Compacter" or "Compactor", forget which one, instead of the tier three crafter. It will automatically combine ores bits into ore blocks, without having a preset number of recipes. It will try to combine 4 of anything in a two by two or 9 of anything in a three by three. You can set it to do only one of those or to prefer to do one over the other.

The trick with the Magic Crops stuff is to make the seeds- get a big farm going, and you'll eventually be able to get a whole lot of essence. That's the whole point of the mod- it's not for quick early-game stuff, but for long-term infinite resources, which is why it's so nice in Skyblock style games. I'm using it in my own magic-based series (and older version, anyways), and I've reached a point where I'm able to use iron and gold as decorative, mass building blocks- that is to say, I have so much of those resources that I'm never in danger of running out- and I'm reaching that point with diamonds as well. Basically, it's so that you don't have to worry about mining non-renewable resources. you can farm them instead.

Build 10 Water Wheel from Immersive Engineers to get power. You need 6 pulverizer for the basic ore processor. There is another item that compress item as lootbag and ore automatic without the need of a recipe input. You just need some servo and itemduct to filter the ore from the other drops and you have ores for days. I recommend using just a pulverizer + redstone furnace for the final process.

Hey Etho! I tried to play with this modpack in singleplayer, it did not work too boring. So, I was able to build a fully automated factory which makes cobble, gravel, sand will end up in the dust with a doubling or even tripling and subsequent melting of the dust, but I still can not automatically produce alloys, try to do it. As I looked at the video, you did not bother with the doubling / tripling of sand and dust). I also want to give some "maybe useful" tips: 1. Do a drum from Extra Utilities, it may contain more liquid, occupying just 1 block 2. You can use pipes (which is easier to dispart) and servo from Thermal Expansion, maybe it's cheaper than the Extra Utilities pipes 3. Do not know why, but the energy pipes from Extra Utilities not workingfor me, and i used fluxducts from Thermal Expansion 4. Also in the Modpack have mod called "Storage Drawers" is perfect for storage 5. You can write the @ sign before the name of mod, like this: @extra utilities, in NEI search, and right appear only items in this mod, you know it is possible) This is all, good luck in modpack with your friends!)

Look up 2 by 2 storage drawers. They're like barrels that hold 4 types of items. Generally better for sorting.

At 8:50 pipe stuff into a drawer controller connected to compacting drawers, that will compress the ores into there block form without power use. Then after you automated processing of the ores, use the same drawer setup for converting the ingots into blocks or nuggets.

There are two different compressor blocks that will automatically craft that ores into their dust/sand/gravel blocks. That way you don't need to add a recipe for each type of ore to the autocrafter and it can handle more than 8 recipes. (It can even compress Beef's loot bags. Also, the epic loot bags and be combined into legendary bags)

Etho! just make your trusty vanilla mob farm! 2 layers works great. you can put sugar cane in a "x" pattern in shapeless crafting and drop mobs on it to kill them automatically then you can upgrade to the openblock "spikes" to get xp and player kill drops aswell. Note: The sugar cane spike are 1/2 a block tall so make the drop at least 3 blocks tall, also you can completely incase the killing chamber so its dark and put a transfer node on the out side wall with at least 3 world interaction upgrade in it. this will pull all the drops from the inclosed chamber through the wall keeping everyone safe...... trust me creepers suck in this mod pack took me at least 10 rebuilds to figure this all out

The 'compactor' does exactly what your crafter does, but with recipes. It just combines things together, like redstone into a block and the crushed ores into blocks. Way more efficient for sieves.
