Yeah, as much as I love Minecraft, I haven't felt this kind of excitement for a series since ~2014. These mods all seem so fleshed out and work together well, very vanilla but still giving a lot more variety and making incredible ambience. I love that there's no minimap, it's nice not getting distracted by it. Etho really thought it through and you can tell.

In the very early days of Minecraft they tried that but was too hard to implement because they would always need to calculate where blocks are and how it affects sound and how the sound bounces off of it and they also had trouble of what was considered as a cave.

@@DaCreepyCreeper It seems like it even as an older viewer but trust me in the grand scheme of thing this is a fairly recent development. I'd say he didn't really start fully committing to improving his builds until 2019 and then it really starts to show in the Hermitcraft season 7 videos, which carried over to the let's play and everything else. He was an ok builder before that but kind of in that awkward period that everyone goes through until they full commit or give up For the most part he basically was always building around redstone. So, the buildings made themselves. He's always been a pretty decent interior designer, due to always kind of relying on caves and other things for his builds. Which is the whole idea of the mancave. Many older builds that were good were either more based on his experience with pixel art stuff or repeatable patterns like snowflakes and other designs he would use for farms

Hey, developer of the mushroom mod here! Really stoked to see you using the mod in your house - it's definitely one of the best builds I've seen with the red mushroom wood. With regards to the auto-farming with Create, I'm pretty sure Create doesn't chop the red mushroom blocks since it doesn't consider them to be leaves. It's something I might add in the future, but it's a bit janky to implement. I suppose you could probably set something up with drills though if you want to automatically chop the full mushroom down.
@EthosLab

I think it is probably fine as is. It adds more challenge to the game if trees and mushrooms can't be harvested in exactly the same way. Thanks, it's a cool mod.

To speed up the gears you need to connect gears to gears alternating big and small. But don’t over do it. Stress is a big part of create. The best early create power is the create water wheel 2 of them can take up to 512 total kenetic stress. Which is enough to power the crushing wheels

Just a bit of advice when doing stuff with Create: the easiest earlygame source of power for your stuff is actually a water wheel, which is not only much cheaper but also produces a lot more power at higher speeds than using an encased fan for it, and is very easy to set up. Using an encased fan for power is pretty much just a novelty that was added because people asked for it, since it's one of the most expensive methods to make and produces almost nothing. There's a few isolated cases where it's useful for space reasons, but that's about it. Encased fans have more than enough actually good uses that it's not really a problem. Of course, if you want to make a giant encased fan power plant for your things just because you can, that's entirely valid. It's just going to be really, *really* expensive. :P

I always felt as though modpacks lacked the feel of vanilla Minecraft and had yet to attribute that to the overload of information that seems standard to modpacks. I can say I'm enjoying this series more due to this decision and am looking forward to trying modding again with the same approach.

The house is stunning! When you’re looking at it in 38:05 from on that hill, how do you feel about adding a little water feature on that left side, a pond or maybe even a little waterfall coming down from the hill like a mineral spring? I’m also really excited to see what you do with create. I actually just started playing a modpack that uses it and I’ve been totally stumped figuring out how to power the rotation (the in-game wiki doesn’t seem to mention it) so the encased fan was a revelation to me!

This was so peaceful to watch, I really enjoyed it, Etho! Seeing you roam and explore the beautiful world and listening to your voice paired with birdsong, it's such a pleasurable experience :> The build is simply gorgeous! I love how organic and natural it is, its colours are lovely and complement those of its surroundings! I know a little bit about Japanese architecture and I think you did a good job of keeping the theme with the Japanese elements, while also having your unique style show; overall it's such a beautiful build! The organic shape, leaves, and earthy wood colours have a strong element of nature, and as you said, the blue roof does look great with the cherry blossoms in the background! I love the lanterns, they quite literally let the shaders shine, and those shaders beautify your build even further by drawing out its colours, and having soft touches of shadow with bright areas of light! Something else I love about the colour palette of your base is the contrast; the deep blue of the roof and warm orange of the details, the white and dark brown in the paper walls, as well as the tones of the varying structure blocks; the pale walls against the dark roof, the different saturations, how it's darker toward the bottom of the build and gets brighter as it goes up, but is balanced by the deep colour of the roof; and how it isn't too strong in contrast or saturation keeps it soft and pleasant to look at! The structure itself is magnificent; I love the depth you added with the paper walls, fences, hanging lanterns, pathways, height, structure support, slabs, stairs, and such! Yet again, it's kind of hard for me to figure out where you did the terraforming, haha, you did such a good job! :) Fun fact: Tatami mats are used in the floors of traditional Japanese homes, and shoes and slippers aren't worn while standing on them. Another reason to take off your shoes before entering your home! ^-^ I have a question if you don't mind answering, though you totally don't have to; How did you learn colour theory? Your colour palettes are truly beautiful, and I'd love to learn more about it so I can appreciate them even more. But thank you so much for this episode! I'd like to make this comment longer but I should rest my hand as it was hurting earlier, but know that you make my life happier! Love you, Etho!

One thing they don't mention about the create saw. It's great to carry with you with a hand crank. Then when exploring you can knock down trees with ease. Saves time and tool durability. If a tree is being stubborn, just take one piece of log and place it on the ground in front of the tree.

Hey Etho, check out the Rotational Bearing from Create. It makes a nice one-switch tree farm that you can plant a bunch of saplings in and forget for a while. Also check out the Harvester Ponder page (the last scene, I think) for a better idea of what I mean. You can build it like that, but with saws.

Etho, for more rotational power try using a water wheel or windmill, those are the 2 best early game sources of create power. In the late game the furnace generator is your friend (there is a trick where if you pull the item you are smelting in and out of the furnace with a chute and a fan you will never use up the item meaning all you need is furnace fuel. Automating charcoal works for this). To make things spin faster either use a rotational speed controller or chain big and small cogs together. Additionally, I would recommend looking into setting up a tree farm with a minecart contraption or a gantry carriage (this option is likely better for early game when iron is tight). These are easier to set up on scale compared to mechanical pistons.

That backpack is sweet...I so wish it were in vanilla. Also, I hear a lot of players talk about getting lost in caves...if you make a habit of placing all torches going into a cave or mine to the left then as you head back to the exit all torches will be to the right...and you'll know it's alright to get out that way.

I remember at some point Etho you spoke about actively trying to avoid a phrase you were saying really often, and like a week later you started saying "Uh huh" instead of whatever it was. I thought it was really funny that you switched one phrase out for another and you may not have known it. I didn't mind either, but now that you've brought my attention to it I just repeat "Uh huh" every time you say "Uh huh" now and it makes me smile.
