Pull: Show you care Push: Use banter to emphasise it At least that's what I can tell
@LostHeadStudios4 жыл бұрын
That's a great summary
@LilRipper764 жыл бұрын
can you give an example? ya know for a friend
@HyphenatedReality4 жыл бұрын
@@LilRipper76 Example 1: Person 1 - "Wow, that's a nice shirt!" (pull) Person 2, sarcastically - "Thanks, I dressed myself today!" (push) At this point, Person 2 might be interested, so to establish balance, Person 1 should throw a joke (push) back at Person 2. If it goes well, they'll joke back and forth for a moment, until Person 2 reciprocates the compliment (pull) in one of two ways. A: compliment P1 on something they're wearing (big pull, might build tension) B: say something about where they got the shirt, or that it's their favorite shirt and a reason why it's their favorite (normal pull, but keeps conversation open) Example 2, same starter: Person 1 - "Wow, that's a nice shirt!" (Pull) Person 2 - "Haha, thanks!" (Too much tension) At this point, P2 is uninterested or intimidated, so P1 can either lighten the mood with some sort of joke to relieve the tension (has to be a great joke with a great read on P2's personality), or just drop the conversation. If P2 was interested and P1 drops the convo, P2 will try to pull P1 back. In both cases, if P2 doesn't throw any push or pull towards P1, they're likely uninterested. You just have to judge how much pull is too much when you're leading the conversation, and be able to respond with the right amount of push that lets them take control of the conversation. Don't speak over them if they start taking control, and try to mainly stay on topic with where they bring the conversation. If they don't keep balance with the push/pull, they likely aren't interested. Once you've established enough of a connection, you can do push/pull simultaneously by making a lighthearted joke about something they like. If you both like the same anime, make a joke about the anime while also speaking in a tone or way that makes it clear you also like it, so the conversation stays open to things you're both interested in, and can talk about in detail and laugh about equally.
@TheTrippleDDD33 жыл бұрын
HyphenatedReality I don’t get it why you call it push an pull. Can you explain it too? It would help a lot
@HyphenatedReality3 жыл бұрын
@@TheTrippleDDD3 to summarize the video, the pull is how you're trying to attract someone's attention, or "pull them into your life." When you're interested in someone, you try showing all your best qualities, flattering them, and doing acts of kindness hoping it will "pull them in." That gets tiring, since nobody likes being pulled around all the time, physically, emotionally, and metaphorically. So you balance it out with a push. You make a joke or comment that pushes the conversation away from being entirely about how great you are, or how great you think they are, to create a bit of small distance between you two so that they have the space to rest and feel more comfortable. Everyone needs a bit of space so they can think about how they truly feel about other people, so you have to lightly "push" someone away to let them have that space. I could go into some "push/pull" metaphors, but I type way too much as is. If you want one, though, just ask.

tfw I've mastered this with guys and girls I'm not attracted to, but it all falls apart when I'm near an attractive girl. ;-; But damn, this is some solid advice from Etika. The guy's smart.
@kidgrey426 жыл бұрын
LiveHedgehog Same problem, but a way to overcome this is just treat everybody the same as you treat the people your comfortable with , one thing I noticed about girls is that they are curious, they become interested in things they can't figure out, so try acting interested in her but not entirely interested and treat her like you would treat anyone else you know, also if she's a super fine ass girl then it would probably take a shot at her ego if she doesn't have a BF already becuase she probably has a lot of other dudes that text her on the daily complimenting her and you'd be one of the few does that talks to her for her and another thing try keeping the compliments at a minimum because your boosting her ego if you do it to much so try doing it every now and again,but also it's best to change your state of mind and just know that there will be people who like you and people who don't and learn and grow from those experiences and move forward.
