Awesome and beautiful. Good mix of closeups and distance, day and night, with no talking or music to hide the sounds of the eruption. I appreciated the lack of shaking camera too.

My grandmother " nana" was raised at the foot of Etna. I remember sitting on the patio with her in the summer, eating fresh tomatoes and her telling me stories of the old country including Etna. She was born in 1874 and came to America after 1900. Giuseppina was her name and my grandfather was Nicolo. I will never forget them.

@@Rotisiv The etymology of the name Etna would seem to derive from the toponym Aἴτνα (Aitna) which would derive from the Greek verb αἴθω àithō, that is "to burn". Etna was in fact known by the Greeks as Αἴτνη (Àitnē) and by the Romans as Aetna.

In Greek Mythology, it says that Zeus defeated Typhon who is the father of Monsters by managing to trap him underneath Mount Etna. When Mount Etna starts spitting out lava, it's Typhon trying to get out.

I went to this volcano 🌋 on 2017 but it wasn’t erupting. But then I went to Stromboli and saw the eruption from a Ship 🛳 at night. It was the most beautiful thing I ever seen in my entire life!

I love how explosive it is... You've got all you would expect from an Indonesian eruption like Semeru or Lewitobi, the thick lava dome oozing out from the crater and the squeeze-outs of pasty lava overtopping the lip and collapsing into pyroclastic flows. All the while, sizable explosions, producing heavy clouds of ash, vent out from the top. Very impressive.

I climbed Etna in 1980 something - a little old lady was selling half bottles of Sicilian red Etna wine (I still have!) and I had collected a little black rock 🪨 as a souvenir too….it’ll be a while before anyone is selling wine near the top now I hope!! Stunning footage!

Fun fact Greek Legends say that the reason that volcano's so active is because it's the prison of typhon, a monstrous giant so powerful not even the gods or zeus himself could beat him, but zeus had a 2nd chance for victory when the fates poisoned typhon with a fruit that caused him to loose strength but was alive & immortal, legends also say he & his wife echina ( a snake woman) are the mother & father of monsters, giving birth to all the monsters in greek mythology, hydras, chimeras, sphinx, Cerberus, you name it

It kinda looks as though the whole volcanic mountain is about to be blown to smithereens. This hopefully (🙏) will not happen this the reasons for so many active vents on and around the mountain. Instead of just one small vent with gases & magmatic matter been bottled up to a point of 'mountain go "ka-boom!"' so to speak brilliant post🌋🌋🌈🌋🌋
