Wonderful clip. Harve Presnell was an underrated singer and should have had a rich list of recordings, both classical and Broadway/Standards. In addition to guys like Gordon MacRae, Robert Goulet, John Raitt and others, Mr. Presnell was a vocal hero of mine growing up. Their voices were magic.

God, your dad had such an incredible voice, even at 69!!! What a magnificent talent he was, so full of life. To me, he'll always be the guy singing "They Call the Wind Mariah". That song is so haunting every time I hear it and the only version worth listening to is the original by your dad. What a great performance by father and daughter on this video. The love between you two is so evident. Thanks for sharing this with us.

My son only had 8 hrs to live and i sang him this song in intensive care. Meaning, if he survived I would never say No to him, he survived and even though suffering cerebral palsy as a result of his complications I kept my promise and he is now 37. He recently watch "The Unsinkable Molly Brown "' and realized where the song was from and he said "Dad, Johnny Brown sings it better than you, but I love you and thank you". Thank you to your dear dad Harve and his character Johnny Brown.

I'm a big fan of your father's work. The other day I auditioned for a vocal scholarship and the professor said that I could someday sound a lot like Harve Presnell. I consider that to be the greatest compliment about my music I've ever gotten, that's how much I love his work. My condolences, he seems like he was an amazing man and he was certainly an amazing performer.

Just watched 1995's "Fargo" again tonight, and cannot believe that Harve Presnell was the abrasive and hard-as-nails father-in-law to Bill Macy's wuss of a son-in-law. Presnell's performance in this film hovered over this film like a miasma. I can't believe he wasn't nominated for an Oscar for this brilliant piece of work.

I remember your father from the early fifties. We both attended Bethel Church in Modesto and Harve occasionally sang. My most indelible memory from those years was when he was a student at USC, he returned one Christmas to Modesto to sing Handel's Messiah with the Stanislaus Choral society. The director, Robert Wing who had taught Harve at Modesto High, persuaded him to sing both the tenor and baritone arias from the oratorio. His range and power were unbelievable! How truly sad he is gone.

I am just discovering this Presnell vocal phenomenon. I would suggest anyone who loves this as much as I do to check out the songs of Scott Walker, both solo and with the Walker Brothers. He did shows with Dusty Springfield in the late '60's/early '70's that have a ring familiar to this performance. Of course, the imaginatively produced "duet" between Nat King Cole and his daughter Natalie certainly come to mind when listening to Harve/Presnell and his daughter Ruby here. (Stupid autocorrect won't let me type out Mr. Presnell's full name; keeps printing "Harvest".)

WOW! Harve still had his illustrious voice unchanged throughout his life! Not wavering even unto his death! Very very few people could say that and it is heartbreaking when these are forced to retire, like Whitney Houston who ruined her once beautiful voice due to use of cigarettes and hard core drugs. And then there us the great Barbra Streisand who couldn't hit the notes she could when she was ypung, and if course Liza Minelli as well as her mother Judy Garland. And there are so much more.. But there is the late great Harve Presnell! An enigma and under appreciated singer/actor. He stands alone and no other has stood the test of time that he did! BRAVO Mr Presnell! "To be absent from the body is to be present before the Lord". And I brlieve, in his case, he is! RIP, Harve!! 💝💝💝💝

What a wonderful duet! I wish Harve Presnell had the chance to do more movie musicals as he had a truly great voice and pesence that deserved more fame and exposure. Loved Molly Brown and the movie he did with Connie Francis and of course Mariah. Some comments have said his voice was raspy, hooty or harsh, I disagree, saying it gave his singing an emotional honesty and clarity that was truly unforgettable and enthralling. "Maria" excepted, there is something strange, hooty, harsh, distancing, and off-putting about Harve's singing. which is why he really doesn't join the greats, in my book, which would be Keel, Raitt, Goulet, and Drake. he just isn't up there with them. but "Maria" is really redeeming for him. they must have worked really hard with him to get it right. he was pissed he wasn't doing the Eastwood part, but there was something just too rigid and arrogant about him, which was, in the end, very bothersome.
