When we are talking about respiration in Plants, it will always start from either Sucrose or Starch and not from Glucose. The end product of photosynthesis in plants is never glucose. It is either sucrose which is transportable sugar or starch which is a storage form of sugar. That means when roots receive sucrose from leaves (where photosynthesis takes place) it will break sucrose to glucose and fructose via invertase enzyme. The enzyme hexokinase in glycolysis which converts Glucose to Glucose-6-Phosphate should be called as Glucokinase. Why do we call it hexokinase...because it is not specific to Glucose. It can also convert Fructose to Fructose-6-Phosphate OR Mannose to Mannose-6-Phosphate, and all these sugars are hexoses ie 6C sugars; so we call this enzyme as hexokinase because it is not specific to Glucose. Out of 10 reactions of Glycolysis, 7 are reversible, please highlight this. The enzyme which converts Succinyl CoA to Succinate is Succinyl CoA Synthetase and not Succinyl CoA Synthase. We have to understand the difference between Synthetase and Synthase.

Umm ,,, you are kind of wrong at the last part , the enzyme that converts succinyl Co-A to succinate is succinyl Co-A synthase not synthetase . Because if it were synthetase , it would used energy not produce energy from GDP to GTP or from ADP to ATP. Synthetases use energy whereas synthase do not .

According to old concept 1 Glucose on complete oxidation releases 36 or 38 ATP in animals. Can it be 36 ATP also ?? Since the chapter is Respiration in Plants. So how many ATP will plants produce on complete oxidation of 1 Glucose; Can it be 38 ATP. Plants produce 36 ATP only and not 38. Animals can produce both 36 and 38. It depends on the tissue type.
