This interview is fundamentally important. Billy is the real deal. People need to here men talk about the importance and love of fathers. I recommend the interview with Billy telling the story of the Martin guitar his father had to sell! I cried man 😢

Indeed, a great interview. I had really misjudged Billy as another smart-alec kid, possibly a little full of himself. I could not have been more wrong. What a great outlook and light of hope. Keep picking and spinning Billy, and thanks again e-town!

Society has been reconditioned to judge others based trivial meaningless things.... The philosophy of not judging someone till you walk a mile in there shoes has been replaced.... Hope this was a reminder that we're not supposed to judge anyone by anything we see, hear or feel... only when we have spent time living their life and experiences... cheers bud

Just ran across this living legend a few months ago. I think one of ,if not the best guitarist I've ever seen. Being from Eastern Kentucky myself, when he said he lived in Morehead for a while. That answered many questions. He was right in the heart of Ricky Scaggs, Keith Whitley, and many other super musicians backyard. Thinking back, I was probably attending Morehead state , while he was starting his career.

I wish I could listen to him talk all day. I'm over here like ..."shit, he gets it". We all have different reasons for finding music, and why it grasped us, and I love hearing other people's journey with that. He is the real deal. All the guys he plays with are the real deal, too. I wish I could watch them play every week lol. Also, super appreciative of how much they tour. I don't know how they do it, but you can see they have that passion.

My daddy started out playing clubs in dallas tx leon Rusch and played for bob will. Ray price for 10+ years hank thompson for 10+ years he work for the light crust dough boughs then we moved to Tennessee got a job will mel tillis played on willie nelson album that went gold i grew up sleeping in the back seat of the car while my dad played in clubs and i grew up in recording stuidos. Life was weird for me also when your dad grauated north texas state for music but played the fiddel in tx to feed us. He said if he played what he loved to play which is classical we would of starved to death so he played the country fiddle in then merel haggard signed him in 1980 up until his death in 2000 when he couldnt travel on the bus no longer and when he couldnt play no more he soon died after that so billy i can kind of relate to you personally you and i are what i call back stage babys.. We are rare that would be good song for all the back stage babys you and i and billy for me to like a country blue grass artist that plays what he loves to play you are unique and i like you were like brothers from a diffrent mother lol love you billy jimmy belken is my dad

I remember seeing your father, Jimmy Belken, playing fiddle in the band. I used to know the names of all of Merle's band members. Now, Billy Strings has just enough guys for me to remember.

The only reason I watched/thumbs up this vid is because of Billy. I Zero use for the aloof arrogant Nick Forster.
