compared with the floors. The rods are of different diameters so that the stress in each rod is the

Why is d/sqrtF a constant?

because everything else (pi, 4, sigma) is constant so all that's left is d proportional to SqrtF

I just looked at the diagram and thought if hight ratio is 2/1 the diameter should be 2/1 aswell.
