Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Curt 4-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2022 Jeep Renegade. Adding trailer wiring to your vehicle is a great addition to adding a hitch because if you ever plan on pulling a trailer or have accessories that light up, you're going to want a 4-pole. And this is going to allow you to have your running lights, your turn signals, and brake lights. And all of this runs into a module that will keep it protected from any back feed. It also plugs in directly to the factory style plug, so there's really no cutting on that end. You will have to extend a power wire that's going to run up to your battery and attach that to 12 volt power.
But other than that, it's fairly easy. It does require some of the interior panels to be pulled back to be able to plug it in. But I'm going to show you how to do that. So let's get your trailer wiring installed. To begin our installation, you're going to want to open up your rear hatch and remove the cargo cover here and that way we can gain access to pull up our scuff panel.
Now our cargo tie down has a piece of hardware that's holding the scuff panel on, so you're going to want to pry it underneath here. You can use a trim panel tool or even a flathead screwdriver's going to work well and that's going to give us access to our 240 Torx bit. So we'll go ahead, get this removed. (tool operating) And there's going to be one on the other side, so we'll go ahead and do the same thing. Now if you reach down on the scuff panel, you're going to find that there's three Phillips head screws so we'll go ahead and get those removed.
We can go ahead and remove our scuff panel by pulling up and there's going to be a series of clips. So I'm going to start on each side (plastic snapping) and then just kind of work my way towards the middle. And if the clips pop off, we'll go ahead and we can take those out with the trim panel tool and they just slide in here. So make sure you get those. And if they do break, unfortunately, these plastic clips can be a little bit fragile, but knowing where they're at, you can kind of put a little bit of pressure and maybe pry this way to prevent some damage from occurring.
(plastic snapping) We can pull back our plastic as there's going to be a series of clips here, so you might have to put a little bit of force. But kind of starting here, just kind of pull back and we're going to start to have some of the clips pop up and then work your way along this weather seal (plastic snapping) and you're going to find the clips as you go along. And to make it a little bit easier, you can pop this top one off too. Now just be gentle. You will have to put a little bit of force, but main thing is is pull straight out to get these clips to separate. Having this gap is kind of what we're looking for. And reach back to where your taillight is and you should feel a clip. Now it is kind of tucked in here, but there should be a push tab on there to separate that plug. And that's where we're going to tie in our wiring. It's going to be really hard to see here. And that's kind of what our plug looks like. So you just push on that center and it should separate. So we'll go ahead and get those both undone on each side. You'll have a yellow, brown, and white wire with these plugs and you'll see they should match up to what your factory wire was. Now this is going to plug into the taillight just like we had our factory one. And then that factory plug will go into here 'cause it just tees in. And this is going to be our ground wire. So what I'm going to do is I'm actually going to peel this back a little bit. We will have to mount this up, but just give us a little bit more room. So I'll get these plugged in. Now I can only go in one way, so you'll see that this little slide on tab, this is to kind of slide into a spot but we're not going to be using that. So make sure that this is on the opposite side of that clip that we removed it and then this, plug it into our taillight. Now it is kind of tricky to find that but we we're able to get that plugged in. At this point, take your green wire and this is going to route along where our scuff panel was and the scuff panel is going to hide the wire once it's ran across. And once you get that taillight plugged in on the passenger side, you can go ahead and get your plastics popped back in. Now that white wire that I peeled back with the ring terminal is going to be our ground and luckily for us we have a factory ground. You can see there's a nut that's kind of here.

their is a fuse panel right there in the back, you can buy a fuse that will have a 2nd circuit connection fuse and wire available (i duno what they call them) vs going to the batt.

you talking about a fuse tap? did you wire one up there?

I didn't understand was there a wire that ran to the right light for the right signal? Or where both right and left signal out of the one connector? What about reverse ?
