Today on this 2014 Honda CRV were going to install part number C56158 from Curt. This is a T-Wiring harness for the four pole flat trailer connector. To get access to our wiring harness we need to go ahead and open up the back hatch. To start off well go ahead and remove all the floor covers. Next well go ahead and take off this threshold, under is a couple of plastic fasteners that we have to remove. Now to remove these you actually push down on the center and then pop them loose. If you can, sometimes this looks easier than it is, well pull back the weather strip then we can reach underneath here and pop it loose. Well just use a plastic pry bar and kind of work our way around.
Theres a fastener here, heres a fastener. You can look to this edge right here, find a fastener and pop it up then well go ahead and remove it. Our next step is to go ahead and remove the fasteners so we can pull our panel out. This is on the drivers side. 10mm socket on this to remove the tie-down point. And this hook right here we can push down in the center and we can go ahead and remove it.
Down on the bottom is a plastic rivet that we have to remove. A small screwdriver well get it started then you can go ahead and pop it out. There are some fasteners behind the handle here, theres a little tab that we push down when you pull the cover off and looks like a couple Phillip head screws. Lets go ahead and pull back our weather stripping a little bit more and well go ahead and look for the fasteners to pop out. Theres a guide here and then heres a fastener, a guide there, a fastener right here. Theres another fastener right here. Lets work our panel back a little bit.
Ive got this panel loosened up we need to loosen this one up as well on top. We also go ahead and work our way up. Looks like a fastener right here, a fastener right here and one right here as well. Theres one right here, pop that loose. Lift that blue connector and well go ahead and separate it and push on the tab and pull it apart. Before we put it into place well go ahead and put the fuse into the fuse holder or either do it now or when its all inside there. Go ahead and take our T-connector and go ahead and put it into place.
Now its an identical copy of the blue connector just a different color and you can see the tab a little bit easier on this half. Theres one connection and well go ahead and put the other half back into the other half. Well take our four pole wire and route it to our spare tire well. Run it behind the plastic and we should be good to go. Next well go ahead and attach the white wire to the ring terminal for ground to the sheet metal. To install the ground screw well use the self-tapping screw that comes with the kit and youll need a quarter inch nut driver for that. Now if our connections made well go ahead and put our top panel back into place. Lets go ahead and clean off the section of the sheet metal back here and well attach our module to the sheet metal. Well use the adhesive that comes with the kit and put it on our module. Then well go ahead and put this panel back into place. With that well make sure that our four-pole is still at the bottom here by the spare tire and well go ahead and reinstall the rest of our fasteners. Well go ahead and reset the rivet and then put it back in place. To reset the rivet well hand spread it here and push inwards until it pops back out. Well keep doing that until it gets almost all the way out. Go ahead and put our door seal back into place it kind of helps to get it started and then go back around and push it back into place. Lets go ahead and put our floor coverings back. Were done with the back half of the vehicle and now were going to go up front and add a fuse to the fuse box. We need to install a fuse in this location right here and its labeled number 10 and it uses a 10 amp fuse. With everything hooked up lets go ahead and pull out our wire harness and well show you how to use it. Of course when its not being used it will stay with the spare tire. When you need to use it just pull it out and then put the floor covering back into place. Then you just go ahead and shut the hatch on it. The door seal is thick enough so it wont hurt anything when you shut the hatch but dont do it here. That will smash the wires, call the store and youll be starting all over again. Well go ahead and close the hatch on it, pull out what you need to go down to your trailer hitch. Lets go ahead and put our cap on it and then well go ahead and test it. Now its always a good idea to test your wire harness before you try in on the trailer to verify its working properly. Well go ahead
