Eh, it's par for the course. As I responded to another person, it comes from the trend of cramming more ad time into the timeslot and cutting the opener down to preserve story time in the show itself. And for SOME REASON even though it's on adless Netflix, they're sticking to the TV norms. Pff.

I like everything about the show except the music. Maybe it's years of Dynamic Productions shows using JAM Project for their openings, but the music seems so...muted. This is a super robot show, not Korra Season 5.

The producers should be embarrassed that a non-professional has outdone them. Agreed it's all about dollars and cents. Would american producers license a pop song for a cartoon? Doubtful. Even an original pop song from studio soundtrack pros sound bland. Changing the opening would certainly keep things fresh. Even the Simpsons to this day change their opening intro on the last few seconds.

Ah, this makes me feel nostalgic for when season 1 first came out, and I saw this video three years ago. Back when the fandom wasn’t toxic and Klance wasn’t a looked down upon ship for having so much drama go on with the fandom because of threats to the staff and other fans, etc... Back when the goal to save the universe was the main part of the show, the ship war between Sheith and Klance wasn’t toxic, and the fandom wasn’t so freaked about the VLD staff queerbaiting. Back when the first three seasons were the ONLY seasons that were out. In my opinion, season 2 was the peak of the show, and it went downhill from season 4. I just miss the 2016 days when it comes to Voltron. This video always gives me that feeling back.

100% I accept this as the canon opening for s1 no doubt. The Keith transition from piloting Red to the bike was FLAWLESS. Also, SHIRO's spotlight moment following that. YES. Hunk tanking the hit for Lance in Yellow was perfect. You captured so much of who they all are in ~2 minutes. One of my favorite VLD amvs. I come back everytime it's on my feed.

What makes this work so well in my opinion is the subtle buildup at the beginning, the horns and choir lure you into a false sense of tone and atmosphere, so that when the actual song kicks in your completely taken off guard by the drums thunderous strike and lightning rifts of the electric guitar, resulting in a 360 style shift that grabs you by the ears and pulls into the center of it all.

I've been watching this video on loop nonstop! :D I'm so impressed with your timing, song/scene choice(s), and text editing!~ You were able to capture the vibe of the characters, emotional, humorous and epic moments in just a span of about 2 minutes! Although I still do like the original opening, I feel like this Alternate Opening could also serve as its replacement because of its overall "Japanese Anime Opening"; with the longer timespan and the proper credits given. Plus, for an opening, it also feels perfect to put it at the end of each episode as the "Ending Theme"! 10/10! Pure awesomeness! This is enough to revitalize my hype for this show no matter how many times I've watched it (while also waiting for any news on Season 2)! Keep up the great work! :D

Oh my god. Just everything about this fits so right! The movements on screen just hit the beat so nicely, especially the first 30 seconds, and the way it matches the lyrics(Hunk's made this Masterpiece 10 times better for me) is just ugghhhhhh. so good.The character introductions with the stars behind them is something I didn't know I needed. (Shiro's with the lion 'waiting' for him, and he 'waiting' for it was like, the best. Keith's with Lance in the background had me replaying to see if I was seeing it right) Alllura's whole inability to get back her past home and family was gut-wrenching, but the way it shifts to Voltron makes it seem like that was her life and family now, and it made me feel like this is what I've needed from this fandom. I am not sure what to write. Many people say stuff like "this is better than the actual opening" and I cannot disagree more. However, for something non-profit made from limited footage this is an excellent work, and it;s not my place to say it's a bad opening- it's as good as you can get without a team of animators at hand.

Never seen the actual opening, but this opening as it is now tops almost every show I have seen on american television. Also after hearing the track from the original opening I have to harshly disagree with your opinion. Such a lackluster song could not convey the spirit shown by these characters.

It may not convey spirit shown by the characters, but it sure conveys the emotional pattern that the show follows. On the side note, it's not really a song since it's instrumental only.

Song/music it honestly doesn't matter to me I'm an artist not a musician. I don't care if songs can be music, and music can't always be songs. Thier reminiscent in that if you hum music without lyrics it becomes a song by technicality. Openings in my opinion are not supposed to be about emotional patterns through a show, but supposed to be an introduction to a show, or theme. Like in Bakamontagari were getting introduced to a character, and theme, an emotional pattern should show up in the actual show. If an emotional pattern is in the opening it should not precede the theme, and the characters personalities.

Wow. A great choose for the song and preeetty well done. It really looks like a more japanese kind of opening. I specially liked the 1:08 part. Buuut the ending looked a bit weird to me, how it simply vanished into the final scene, but doesn't look bad either. In summary, great job!!PD: you made me remember Erased
