The direct translation of God Yul is Good Yule. It is now taken to mean Merry Christmas but the original meaning of Yule goes back far longer than the adoption of the Chistian meaning. Yule is Winter Solstice and is noted as the rebirth of the sun.

I found a huge box of file folders at Goodwill yesterday and now I can make all the folder goodies that everyone has been making, including you, Gayle. So excited! I hope next year even more shops get into the so-called non-traditional colors of the season for their items such as snippets, belly bands, papers, etc. Beyond the red/green is the way to go! I love TR's journal because while it's definitely holiday, it's not in-your-face Christmas (altho the pie with the head poking out IS a little freaky, but I'd put it in my holiday cookbook).

I love Daisy’s creative courage in that gorgeous journal. She’s not using “Christmas” colors and she mixes them all with abandon. The journal doesn’t fit into a particular category, but mixes together so many styles: country, traditional, whimsical, modern. I wouldn’t have thought it would all mesh, but it ends up unique and wonderful. I always love her kits, but I am blown away with how she puts it all together.

It is not happening this year, but hopefully next. Wouldn’t that darling gnome paper be perfect for a travel-log?! All those lovely pieces you’ve received are clearly a sign. More Christmas journal making for you! Thank you, always and forever, for the way you make our hearts smile. **ETA: sorry ladies. I listened. I went. I bought. Now some items are out of stock.

Oh such beautiful things from all these wonderful ETSY shops. I think those cabbage dyed colors from triple-v vintage are very Victorian-esq. They will surely look amazing in a winter journal as well. Loved those pretty plaid Christmas ruffles and the Cozy Christmas digital. Those would look great in a winter journal or farm style Christmas journal like you just made. Spectacular journal from Daisy! I have been trying to catch up on your videos Gayle. I was in GA helping my sis move for two weeks. She did not have internet or Wi-fi in place and I do not have unlimited data on my phone. This may sound like a dumb question but have you, or anyone else, made Christmas cards from leftover journal pages, tags, whatever? I've seen lots of Christmas cards turned into journals but not the reverse. I've got tons of junk journal pages that I won't be able to use because my family "isn't into that" or "I would never use it". Sad, that was going to be their Christmas gift. I saw the woodland journal pages and I'm excited about getting the kit. I'm going to make my husband a journal. He, at least, gets it and sees the artistry that goes into them! Also, can you make some journals for men? I see lots for women. Oh, I did turn the already made journal pages I made into journal/coloring pages for my grandchildren so it wasn't a complete bust. Thanks in advance Gayle.

Hi Tammy! I actually have a video series in my Start to Finish playlist that is a Christmas journal I made for a ladie’s son several years ago.
