In Spain we are forbidden from making cash payments of €1000 or more. The government also incentivises snitches! If you report a cash transaction of more than €1000 to the tax authorities you will be exempt from a fine, the other party will be fined three times the amount received!

The "Unidentified self-custody wallets" , this is the target. They want to know who you are as tax payable component kicks in. The limitation amounts can also be used both ways !! Privacy in play.

EU AMLR, as it was accepted, explicitly EXCLUDES self-custody wallets (HW/soft) from providers that do not control your assets - Metamask, Trezor etc. The law does however target anonymous CEX wallets. The article Rob read is FUD with little research done.

It's notable that we don't have privacy with trading fi transactions, especially large ones, and never did and never will. Especially the right to. We don't have the right to be free or autonomous either. Then ideals got snuffed with the enlightenment revolutions and aftermaths. We don't have these rights because frankly, most people don't want them. Just have to deal with it all accordingly and in whatever way you can and must.
