EU citizens in the UK: If you have settled or pre-settled status your close family members can also apply to the EU Settlement Scheme.
Spouses, civil partners and unmarried partners (called "durable partners") are all covered, if the relationship existed before 31 December 2020 and still exists when they apply. If you got married or entered a civil partnership after 31 December 2020, your spouse or civil partner might still be covered if you can show that your relationship was durable (serious) before this date.
If you are applying as a spouse or civil partner you will need to provide your marriage or civil partnership certificate with your application.
If you are applying as a durable partner the Home Office normally expects you to show that you were living together for two years or more by 31 December 2020. Documents that can show living together include: joint bank statements, utility bills, or a tenancy agreement in joint names (these are just examples and there are many other documents you can submit). If you have not lived together for two years you may still qualify as a durable partner if you can show that you were in a serious relationship by 31 December 2020.
