Damn, bro. Didn’t realize how many ducats I could get from trade until I tried establishing colonies as the OPM of Munster. I made it the most developed city in the world to be wealthy enough to establish them. I colonized the mostly unclaimed region of Colombia and the western coast of North America. These colonies seemed untenable at first, but then I realized that I could use my fleet to protect trade and use merchants to collect from trade nodes outside my home node. I also grabbed the Ivory Coast because I heard you can’t grow wealthy off of trade without them. Unfortunately I don’t want to continue the save game as I got boggled down into a war with Great Britain, due to them wanting valuable provinces I had. Regardless, thank you Alzabo, for publishing this video and recommending different ways to play the game for better results.

4lan there are a few nodes that don’t steer to any trade node. Which basically makes them extremely rich and if you make one your main trade node, it will become very difficult for others to compete with you on that trade node because they can only collect which gives them a penalty if it isn’t their main trade node

A really helpful tip for culture conversion is; when you have several cultures of the same foreign culture group, embrace the largest of that foreign culture group and then convert the others to that embraced one. @Lehmuska5 жыл бұрын
While not an in-depth answer, this is not a video and there's a bunch of stuff left either unexplained or deliberately false to keep this simple, here's a few tips when going for a PU. 1. Get the same ruling dynasty as your target. This can be accomplished by marrying them, and either having their king die without an heir while you're the strongest (for the purposes of PU mechanics) nation they've royally married, or having your ruler die without an heir while your target country is the strongest nation (for PUs) that you have a marriage with. This is easier to pull off, as you can simply kill your heirs for 50 prestige when your ruler starts to get old to force yourself to adopt the ruling dynasty of a different nation. In case you would be put under a PU yourself instead of getting a different ruling family, you can simply go to war to keep yourself from getting PU'd. 2a. Pray their ruler dies without an heir while they're not at war and they don't have a PU of their own while you're the strongest nation (for the purposes of PUs) with the same ruling dynasty that they've royally married. 2b. Claim their throne and pray their ruler dies without an heir while they're not at war and they don't have a PU of their own and you've royally married them. 2c. Claim their throne and declare a restoration of the union war on them before they get an heir with an average or strong claim on the throne. Proceed to win the war and enforce the union. 2aa/2ab. Very rarely you instead inherit the country outright instead of PU'ing it. Enjoy your free low-autonomy development. 3. A newborn heir ruined your plans? Welcome to the fun that are PUs. Save scumming is the bread and butter of playthroughs that have more PUs than you'd expect to see. or 1 Be the strongest rival of a country someone else is getting a PU for. You'll get the option of contesting the PU, allowing you to declare a restoration of the union on the newly PU'd country's overlord for the PU. or Be a country that gets scripted PUs (for example Austria, Castille, Aragon, Poland, Brandenburg) or Be a country that gets restoration CB's from their mission tree (for example Aragon, Poland, England) There's also a way to enforce PUs on anyone (at least, there used to be. Not sure if it's fixed) involving making a vassal, placing your own dynasty on their throne, forcing the target country to accept your vassal as their vassal using the age of discovery splendor ability, then claiming the vassal's throne and dowing your target country for the vassal's throne. For some reason, this allowed you to enforce PU on the target country, not just the vassal even if the target counrtry wasn't a christian monarchy. If you've ever seen a screenshot where the player had, say, the ottomans, the papal state, or Ming PU'd, this is probably how they did it.

Personally, as a retired naval officer I am interested in how to strengthen naval play. As a student of history, I don’t understand why the role of jews in Europe is ignored in events, surrounding provinces are not affected by fleeing refugees, and civil unrest based on economic, and ethnic resentment within cities and provinces is ignored in the game. Great tips! :) Few notes though; Collecting trade in home node gives 10% increased trade income, witch is usually better than transfering from an upstream node with little control. Collecting outside of home node however is rarely beneficial. On culture, colonizers with the golden century dlc can expel unaccepted cultures to the new world. This is very useful as it also increases the development of the colony.

@Narvaljodchik5 жыл бұрын
Another tip for gaining absolutism - if you have particularist rebels, accept their demands and then decrease autonomy in every affected province. This usually nets 40-50 absolutism in one day, and unrest is completely avoided because of the formerly increased autonomy and accepted rebel demands.

In practical terms that means Germany and the code does allow for it to spawn in Germany should the reformation get killed off, however, you can cheese colonial nations as a Native American or colony focused Asian to religion change to Protestant or Reformed and possibly spawn printing press. About coalitions, another Tip is to attack that coalition when it forms and is weak, example, you are the ottomans and serbia, venice and hungary are in a coalition, poland and austria are also at risk of joining, attack serbia to trigger the war, once the war is triggered that coalition doesn't exist anymore and any new nations would start a new coalition, that way you are splitting the power of the coalition into manageable sizes.
@picobacsi5 жыл бұрын
Regarding the institutions. Do you know if there's any ranking in the game, which decides who gets the center of inst? Because with Ryukyu I have managed to get all the conditions for getting Colonialism in Settsu, but I never got it. I reloaded like twenty times and always an Iberian nation gets it (mostly Coimbra or Sevilla). Do I have to discover more provinces or get some colonies?
@AlzaboHD5 жыл бұрын
I don't believe there are any rankings. Any nation that has fulfilled the prequisites which are exploring at least one province in the Americas (off the top of my head, might be more) is eligible. Since Portugal, Castile, England and sometimes France or others take exploration you will be less likely than them to obtain it. It's certainly possible to grab the institution but you have to get really lucky. For the Asian nations make sure to explore the coast (land tiles) and not just the ocean tiles. Are you exploring Alaska?
@picobacsi5 жыл бұрын

I have a question. I made a custom nation with my surname as the dynasty. Once my king was 80y and no heirs, i forced my dynasty on a vassal(Hungary), so i can retake the dynasty back later. I couldn't get it although I royal marry only them when my other king died. Tried many ways but can't do it

by the way here's a military tip: build to max width (you can see it in the military tab) and use cannons if you can afford them. Oh and also as long as you dont play the commonwealth cavalry is not worth it

Something I always wondered, is it worth it to steer trade in nodes where all of the income is already being directed through the node by other nations? The cape node, for example, usually has half the world steering for you up to Ivory Coast.

Great video. One suggestion, if you ever do a video about Trade, please explain how to cut off trade going away from our home node. Good example as Brazil controlling the whole South America, there are 2 nodes "end" nodes that we cannot control further. One feeding ivory coast (home node) and the other south of Panama feeding the Caribbean. Hope you understand what I mean :)

I feel like #7 (spreading out your AE) is a dangerous tip. At the start of the game it can usually be a good idea since even a coalition of 4 people could be deadly, so you expand to many sides and keep all of them below 50 hopefully. Later in the game though, when you're blobbing, alternating between sides will only create a mega-coalition of the entire world against you. It might be a better idea to completely annihilate a single culture/religion before focusing on another, since this keep the coalition sizes manageable, and often they won't even form since they would be too weak. Just my opinion though. I found that a great tip for #6 (preventing coalitions) is always allying the biggest nation in the area where you intend to expand to. Your allies take significantly less AE than other nations, so it's easy to keep a really big nation out of your coalitions while you slaughter their brethren. When they finally get mad about it and break the alliance, it's too late and they're pretty much alone.

Just to be clear on the institutions tip, is the goal to make said institution spawn in your country? Or does increasing development just make the institution jump to that one province (and thus spread from there to the rest of your land)

I was once playing as Spain and colonizing the Americas when the natives decided to form a coalition against me. I have never laughed harder than when I plowed through them one by one with my full lines of artillery
