I created a custom nation with Siberian frontiers starting as an opm in Panama with that as my head canon. It was fun, I tried to make taking those four provinces from Spain as an end goal. I wish they’d do your idea because of all the events in this game are awesome.

Cahokia actually has some interesting history (or moreso the lands they settled on), as Cahokia Mounds (just on the Illinois side of St. Louis) has mounds with a larger footprint than the Pyramids at Giza, and by the most current estimates of population based on recent excavations, had a larger population than Paris or London at its zenith in 1000 AD. By the time the French arrived, those inhabitants were long gone, leaving only their massive ceremonial mounds behind, with the inhabitants (the Cahokia tribe) not having any knowledge of who built those mounds or when, so the French simply called them the Cahokia Mounds and its stuck ever since. They've also found the remnants of a woodhenge on the site (which has been reconstructed and is pretty nifty), and there's archaeological evidence that they had trade networks spanning from southeastern Minnesota to northeastern Florida. Fascinating site, worth checking out for any history nerd who, for whatever reason, finds themselves in the St. Louis metro area.

@@syrialak101 the difference is sunset was a dlc. For whatever reason people reacted very poorly to paradox releasing it. Iirc people also reacted poorly to the Satanic Cult being added to CK2 for the same reason. I personally welcome the stuff.

Idea that might be interesting: EU4 but there are no forts (they can’t be built and all existing ones are destroyed). Also, EU4 but you can’t accept any cultures, even those within your Cultural Group.

Random point of interest, but Cebu was pretty much the first place the Spanish Empire colonized in the Philippines. In this timeline however, it seems that all but Cebu in the Philippines is a Spanish colony. Mildly interesting.

I've always wondered, what if every nation (or more realistically, every nation that still existed after it) with wholy (as in no or almost no shared missions between another country outside of the basic ones) unique missions had their mission trees completed in 1444 with all the bonuses and claims implied. Obviously given how a lot of them overlap and often involve conquering their immediate neighbors if not some massive chunk of land, it might be difficult to find the order. I'm thinking of maybe going by the country with the least amount of development first, then location (America first if you don't axe the natives, Africa second, Asia third, Europe last) and then length of tree (longer trees go first) so that it just isn't Austria, England, Byzantium, Timurids+Mughals, Ethiopia with a big blob and no one else. It would be cool to not only see who's left standing, but also how OP some of the trees are.

Oh, has Third Odyssey been updated for the latest patch now? I still need to try a Spartan run at some point. I do love this mod; the only game of EU3 that I ever actually got to the end date was an Irish game where I did the same thing - Started as Munster and I was going to evacuate to the New World - I had my capitol in York and everything - but then I got some delicious chances to take all of Eire from GBR and formed Ireland. I keep meaning to do the same thing with the Bretons and form a Romano-Gallo-Brythonic-Frankish kingdom in North America, but I keep being distracted with other mods (Anbennar lately). Usually when I launch the Elysian, I take all the options except Greek Fire; I also take the Albanians. Sure, they're trouble and a half to deal with sometimes, but they can also give you free colonies if you don't set them up as a vassal state and just relocate them. What's fun is that the Extras Mod, if you retake Constantinople, allows you to regain Greek Fire through finding some hidden libraries. Another fun thing is how you handle the Flight really does impact Europe. In the Extras Mod, you can kickstart the Rennisance by selling spare books, and if you lie to the Portugese, pretty much all of Europe gets a colonization malus for quite some time - whereas if you tell them the truth, you get a trade port that helps spread institutions in one of the Elysian Homeland provinces, and they'll abandon the Caribbean to you, as well as become a historical friend and ally. A war with 'em can kill the historical friend bit though. I do have one complaint, and that's the Barbaroi Council keeps eating more of my development as I colonize than they ought to (even accounting for all the integration decisions I use) but I'd rather have to deal with constant low crownland issues than have the development disappear. Damn, I wish I was able to play right now! But sadly, I'm at work...

This is one of the mods that really requires you to rollback the version number. Even one version ahead will break many mechanics, like annexing a native tribe giving the map for NA. Also, take all of the goods and the Turk for the strongest end game Elyssia. You will have a bit of headache early, but If you can navigate the first few years, back one of your religions early, and use your extra money for settlements you can really break through by 1490.

Did they update this for 1.34? It still kind of works for me but I get events for the tribal estate and I also have the Cossacks estate but that’s all I’ve noticed. I have never never gotten that bonus, I wonder if it’s just to help the AI? Because imo the beginning is kind of rough. I’ve done the stay in the new world and taking back the homeland. When I returned the ottomans had been replaced by Rum. Never seen Rum form by the AI. The natives are pretty strong in this game. You gotta clip Vinlands wings asap. They will get very strong.

lol they made a mod about a strategy I used years (and many versions) ago. I rushed Quest for the New World, annexed Micmac, and lost Constantinople. Its impossible with the current version of EU4 but I have fond memories of Byzantine Canada and fending off the European invaders. Never did return to retake Constantinople though.

The contentious part is that the russian speakers who remain here are majority descendants of people that were brought over to wipe out our culture and language, and by descendents I mean it's 1 generation away, there's even still shittons of elders that were actively involved in the Soviet government in the 80s. Now, we might be able to forgive and forget if these folks just left those ideas behind and integrate, and 2/3rds of them do, mind you, but that 1/3rd is still very much russian supremacist in their words and actions. You could hitch a taxi ride here and the driver wouldn't be able to speak a single word of the official language of the country, despite living here his whole life.
