It happens surprisingly often when you're playing as a subject to someone. Sweden did that to my 5,6,5 ruler when I was playing as Finland in my last run. Put a shitty 3,2,1 ruler on my throne rip.

The ai will never vote for you if another nation is voting for them. Trier was voting for the palatinate which forces the palatine ai to vote for itself and not for you.

Interesting you call them one of the rarest nations I feel like they show up one way or another in almost every HRE game I play since the south of germany has people constantly at war and forcing people to release nations and stuff. Still a very fun episode, keep up the great work!

Watching your videos is the only way left for me to see the burgundian succession apparently. I don’t have any DLC and since the last update, I’ve noticed that it doesn’t happen anymore in the base game. I’ve already played a few games (until 1500 at least) and not a single burgundian inheritance happened. Even with the -90% chances to get an heir, they always end up getting one (not to mention how frustrating it is after trying so hard to link with them). Pain Anyways great videos, always motivating me to play new nations ! Not to mention that with your advices, it is much easier to achieve fun gameplays. Thank you for the content !

9:02 by the way the Palatinate vote is actually not going to change even though they are positive for you. If another elector is voting for them then they will vote for themselves, hence why they were elected immediately after

Donauworth was the site of one of the major precipitating incidents to the 30 Years War. After the Lutheran residents of the town barred a Catholic religious ceremony, the Emperor, Ferdinand, removed its rights and later awarded it to a Catholic prince. Naturally, the Empire's Protestant princes didn't like that and everybody started gearing up for what would become the catastrophic war.

Is there a reason no one ever devs a subject to reduce liberty desire? It seems like a solid quick-fix to me, especially when you inherit Burgundy for free anyway

It also makes them stronger, which increases liberty desire long-term, whereas devving yourself reduces their relative economy. So it's useful as a quick-fix, but you generally want to avoid it for long-term purposes. E.g. the Burgundian missions (at least the old ones?) required low liberty desire. There it can be excellent if you don't have better options... the later increase only comes when you've completed the mission. But if you're dealing with tough vassals (I think the Speed 5 challenges had a good example), it can become self-defeating.

You are emperor, do not look inside of the HRE, watch outside, you can Core all provinces, who are owned by nations, who are not inside of the HRE. So dansk is always a easy pick for jutland, poland is a good pick too, when they get parts of the HRE. And of course, your france :D

Requires reforms though. Often Austria slacks, and you get no reforms before the reformation triggers and IA goes to shit until 1550ish. And without internal lands, it's hard to find ways to declare war to clear reformation centers.
